I'd second Davos55 on that, went in the White Swan for the first time the other Saturday, they had a great selection of beers and ciders and a very good Beatles tribute band on.
Had a great night and I struggled to walk home.0 -
The Upbeats walk is finishing at Rose of Denmark .... never been in there but surely that's a good enough reason to go?1

So my good friends were very loyal to The Bugle for years, and it would be heresy to go elsewhere but got a note from them after Birmingham that they were in the White Swan. I suspect the change of ownership has changed the Bugle. I've not been since the change of ownership, though for the past few years I would have said Bug hands down.
Next time I'm over I'd quite like to try Liberal Club, not really sure what it is but I can only hope it's some sort of Masonic Workers Collective where chat is about how to overthrow Capitalist overlords.5 -
It’s like a very large palace SD. When you arrive the well dressed and polite doormen escort you to one of the many chandelier lit rooms that boast an array of fine artwork on the walls. The bars stock every beer and spirit you can think of with an extensive wine list that many Mayfair restaurants could only dream of. Canapés and Vol-au-vents are served by waitresses who will ensure your plate or glass are never empty. The bathrooms boast marble floors with solid gold fixtures and each one has an attendant should you require a splash of aftershave or perhaps a breath mint.SDAddick said:

I recommend next time you’re in town you pay a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

Pickwick is my current favourite place for pint. Not too crowded and a decent pint.3 -

Anchor and Hope, especially when the weather is good. British Oak is the best for real ale though but it's a good 20-25 min walk to the ground....haven't been in the White Swan since it's changed owners.0

Pickwick for me too - not too busy (usually), friendly bar staff and atmosphere, pool table, darts, large garden, tv screens there but not taking over the place, home & away fans. Absolutely not posh although they have repainted a wall...0

... and the Pickwick fine if you buy your lunch there and eat it in their pub.0

I'm visiting next week, so I'm looking for somewhere to grab beer before the game. I've always used the Royal Oak, but last time I was there the beer was just OK. I thought I'd give the White Swan - is the beer decent? I'm talking real ale/craft beer.0
