Opening to a good story by Richard Cawley (sorry I do not know how to link to the story )
NewsNow: Charlton Athletic news | Breaking News 24/7
Football League chief executive Shaun Harvey claimed that the 3-0 defeat to Burnley ended in “a safe and secure manner” - but that wasn’t the way it felt.
Charlton Athletic was a football club on the very edge on Saturday afternoon - unable to cope with the amazing events unfolding at The Valley.
The under-siege hierarchy must have breathed a huge sigh of relief that the campaign is finally over and there is some respite from the anger, tension and bile which has bubbled around this stadium.

Was thinking the same. He has covered the plight and protests well this season, not just on the day but often with follow up articles during the week. Fair play to the bloke.AFKABartram said:Great piece, Creepy Cawley has been a fantastic local journo this season

And I'll third that. He's covered the car crash that is CAFC very well, and fairly. Bear in mind the SLP has to try not to burn bridges, especially if he is to be properly ITK about club developments (signings, sackings, etc) - which he generally has been.WestCountryAddick said:

So effectively abandoning that game @ 90 Minutes is a "safe and secure" way to end the contest?
No way was that the case -- Ridiculous observation.2 -

Today's SLP print version refers to flares on the pitch. That's just sloppy journalism.0
