I'm approachable too. It doesn't mean I could run a football club.

    Love this thread.

And it could get a whole lot better (or worse) depending on what Lucky writes up!

Let's hope he doesn't live too far away!

Obviously like a lot of you I've had fun tody following this thread, so I just sent this congratulatory letter to Squirrel Face via the fans e-mail to say thanks for the 'non-matchday experience'

After all the recent criticism of CEO Katrien Meire, I really feel impelled to write to you to offer my congratulations and support to her following her intervention at today’s Telegraph Business of Sport conference.

Katrien has always championed the ‘match day experience’, and her efforts today and, indeed, virtually every time she’s made a public statement, go way beyond that to provide a unique ‘NON-match day experience’. I must say that I haven’t enjoyed myself and laughed as much since, well, it must be ‘the statement’.

Is our beguiled leader planning to make any similar appearances? If so, I’ll gladly take a day off work so I don’t miss anything. I have to say, for someone who’s been told not to speak to the media, she and Charlton have certainly been trending a lot on twitter today and she’s certainly managed to drum up a lot of publicity for the club (although a lot of it seems to be for those pesky Card people: the 2%).

I wondered if you could confirm that, when she spoke of criminal acts and violence, she was referring to the people (some elderly) thrown down stairs at the last game by the club’s rent a thug security service, or refusing people access to toilets, or was it the act of selling restricted view tickets to customers without declaring same when the sets were purchased?

Still, I’m sure she knows what she’s doing: otherwise we wouldn’t have been relegated, would we?

Ever the optimist, I hope that, during the conference, she managed to send a few text messages to our new manager; what’s that, the 7th in 2 years? I’ve lost count. Still, every decision she makes is the right one, so that’s ok then.

Well, let me know if she makes any more public appearances – it’s always fun, and far more entertaining than anything we’ve seen at The Valley these past few years.

Keep it up Katrien, you’re doing a grand job, despite what the 2% might say. Hope the season ticket sales are going well – for a top six budget next season we’ll need to sell lots, especially if you keep dishing out £1100 on conferences to give free publicity to Card.

Let me know if Roland’s shoes are ok – I have some spare duct tape in the garage if he needs it.

    Mark

If she has been subject to criminal acts then she should report them to the police and let them do their job. If not then don't besmirch the good name of CAFC fans in public. Acts like hanging a flag above her head or chanting 'liar liar' are not criminal acts. Get used to it you daft bint as there is more to come. Better still go home to Belgium.

She's cracking up. Swearing and comparing protests to racist chanting and abuse. Just as you think she can't stoop any lower.

Katrien, we will win. You won't. Save yourself the trauma and go now.

She said: “For the last couple of months, I’ve had extreme abuse, I’ve had criminal offences committed against myself, and I’m disappointed about governance in sport, that none of the governing bodies contacted me and stood up for the fact that things are not allowed, that’s one step too far.
“I also ask the governing bodies in this country, that sometimes some of the fans have crossed the line, very far, and this is just acceptable. It’s been reported by the media as it’s normal and it’s actually not, and the governing bodies have a responsibility to make people aware that that is not what sport is about.
“They forged my autograph (signature), they showed up, for example - it’s not a criminal offence - but at my parents’ house in Belgium. They rang, they gave papers, but it’s not that, it’s just in general... to ask if they know me, and they handed out papers to say how shitty I was, to my parents.
    Brilliant.

Here's what she said in full -

“For the last couple of months, I’ve had extreme abuse, I’ve had criminal offences committed against myself, and I’m disappointed about governance in sport, that none of the governing bodies contacted me and stood up for the fact that things are not allowed, that’s one step too far.

“I also ask the governing bodies in this country, that sometimes some of the fans have crossed the line, very far, and this is just acceptable. “They forged my autograph (signature), they showed up, for example - it’s not a criminal offence - but at my parents’ house in Belgium. They rang, they gave papers, but it’s not that, it’s just in general... to ask if they know me, and they handed out papers to say how shitty I was, to my parents.

“To my parents, and they hang it up in my village.

“Yeah (I want to stay). The thing is, I know what they’re trying to do, to break me down, but what I’m most frustrated at is the perception. We’ve got the most affordable season tickets, we invest in our community, we invest in our academy.

“We spend £30m in less than two years of ownership. And yes, we got it wrong with the managers and the players, but that happens, that’s why clubs get relegated, that doesn’t mean that everything else is shit.

“It’s fine, but it’s things that shouldn’t happen, according to me.

“To make me resign as a director at company’s house [fraudulently removed as a director]. They were making fun of it on an online forum.

“Me and the owner. It’s fine, I even understand that it’s part of the role that I play, but I feel frustrated by the fact that media reports, all these kind of things - there is so much abusive language now at The Valley - and that’s not part of football. It’s in their interests to try not to have this time [type] of behaviour because now mums with kids won’t come to the games. The chants that are going around, it’s not promoting the sport, and the governing bodies have an interest in trying to stop that.

“Just like when I started supporting football 15 years ago. Whenever there was a black player they would make noises. That has evolved, why can we not also educate fans towards respect of everybody in the game?

“I know it’s that passion that sometimes makes football so great, but…"

So nothing about being crap at you job; lying on several occasions; alienating fans; dissing the history of the club; not having any staff left, or that you won't let the manager/coach pick the team, but....
