No. Yesterday's man. But it's all irrelevant, as we know.0

Nigel Adkins doesn't inspire me much, for reasons of the league we are now in and "a manager on the rise", I would have preferred Wilder, but....
Nigel Adkins - 2 promotions with Southampton from this league to the premiership.
He has a track of record of at least doing something majorly right. You don't achieve that if you've got nothing about you.
Players and managers are the same though in terms of "form"

I'm sure nobody is in doubt that he has had some successful spells with a couple of clubs, it seems to me that people are more wary of his recent lack of achievements.ForeverAddickted said:

A Charlton manager that can beat Millwall. Give that man a 10 year contract.killerandflash said:

For those who do not want Adkins, who do you honestly think is better and a realistic target?11

He's English, he knows the league more than can be said than any of the network chumps so 100% for me1

Adkins has a bad record because of his time @ Reading and Sheffield United... I know he's only just left the latter yet its not like Reading have been brilliant in the time that he's been gone.
Yes you can say that Southampton did better in the Premier League once he was replaced yet he laid the foundations and they wouldnt even have been in the top flight if it wasnt for him1 -

Maybe, maybe not. When you look at the squad of players he had, particularly those coming through in the youth team, I do wonder if any half-decent manager would have been successful with them.ForeverAddickted said:Adkins has a bad record because of his time @ Reading and Sheffield United... Everyone is saying that he had it easy with Southampton yet seem to be ignoring the fact he took Scunthorpe into the Championship for the first time since 1964 in what was his first season with the club.
They then got relegated from the Championship yet bounced back via. the Play-Offs (beating Millwall) then surviving.0 -
I wouldn't disagree with his nationality or past experience/achievements. But he will still not be able to make signings. He will not be able to pick the team, choose who to substitute etc. He will not be used to a half empty ground and having no money to spend. He is not familiar with a club who sign their players via mediocre clubs in random parts of Europe.......CH4RLTON said:He's English, he knows the league more than can be said than any of the network chumps so 100% for me
You have to ask, what self respecting manager with ambition would choose to manage under those conditions?1 -
I don't think Sheff Utd were exactly selling out Brammel Lane last seasonbraydex said:

Don't care what nationality he is but I think he is a decent manager. Won't necessarily translate into being any good here but probably at the top of the list of possible candidates we could hope to attract at the moment.0

Think people are taking this Roland team selection thing way too seriously, if it really is the case that Roland would be picking the team and subs the I guarentee he would've ruled himself out by now.0

Not selling out you're right. But with the highest average gate of just under 20,000 in League one, they're were still pulling in the crowds. Several thousands more than we were last season, let alone this forthcoming season.....LargeAddick said:

You have to think though....they have been stuck in League 1 for several seasons now, but haven't really lost a significant amount of fans. That must say a lot about how the club is run. The fans are still loyal. If you had a choice of Sheff Utd v Charlton (Wilder for example) - who would you choose? It's a no brainer really.0 -
So should we be making plans for Adkins?0
