Wanted to go. New ground etc. Was talked out of it by Mrs who wanted a meal out and garden sorted. Sadly absolutely can believe the score now I'm back in. Talked to Nob enders in pub who have just scraped by the monkey hangers all aware we are a basket case club. Everybody up here knows it. Had over the last season Bpool, Wigan, Bolton, Bleakburn, Burnley, Nob End, Morecambe, Leeds and Hudds all telling me it's a disgrace. Obviously the Bpool, Leeds, Bolton and Bleakburn have more understanding. All though regard us as a proper club with proper people and see common cause. What is irritating is the attitude of prem supporters apart from Everton and Burnley who don't seem to think they have anything to do with the rest of us.
Losing I'm used to, sympathy I could do with out. Just want to be competitive and run by our own not dabblers, liars and chancers.
Btw Village Idiot on ITTV? What do we know?

The highlights (bar a short drive for me)
Konsa gave an assured performance
Holmes bright and beating players and getting crosses in before picking up a knock second half.
Fair play to Declan Rudd coming and talking to angry fans at end of game, not giving excuses, whilst other players didn't get too close. His distribution was pretty good too. Looked pretty assured with what he had to do.
The rest.
Not a great performance lacked width, most came from Fox. Lookman often beats players but always cuts inside and doesn't look for the pass. Hanlan played ok, but desparately need the Iwelumo style battering ram for Ajose to be foil to.
Other than that it looked like a pre season game, players still gelling, very slow and consistent paced. Lacked incisive movement. We still desparately need players as we are woefully light.12 -

Just back from the game. I'm very glad I'm only 30 minutes or so from the ground, and I feel for the rest of the fans making their way back down the M4. The first thing to say is that we have serious problems in our midfield. We played a team division below us and they had the better of us in the midfield all night. I can barely remember a forward pass, everything either went backwards or out wide. We have no creativity in there whatsoever.
Ricky Holmes was clearly our only hope of creating something, but it can't all be left to him. Lookman did ok in the first half with some nice turns but it's clear that he is not a 'proper' winger like Holmes. This is the first time I've seen Ricky play and I was impressed. His work rate was top notch and it wasn't unusual to see him pop up on either wing trying to get some crosses in. Once he went off, it was obvious we were not going to get back into it.
I watched all of Ajose's goals last season on the You Tube vid. Unless we get some players in who can slip the ball through the opponents defence or at the very least give him the ball at his feet, he will struggle to get goals. Time and again the balls were being pumped long and high and he just can't get hold of those, it's a waste of time having him in the team if that's the way we are going to play. Our best move of the game came from a series of decent passes and Ajose eventually got on the end of it and scored. The linesman called it offside, but I wasn't convinced. He did go close on a couple of other occasions, and probably should have scored, but overall the service to him was awful.
I think Hanlan and Konsa showed that they aren't ready. Konsa did a bit better than Hanlan overall but both looked out of their depth. Pearce is definitely going to be a first choice, and I really hope Bauer gets back soon as Johnson isn't good enough either. The subs did little when they came on, JJ was well off his game, I don't know if it's his age or he just didn't get into the game, but he was below par, though the effort was still there as you'd expect.
All in all I thought we were outfought by a team that is high in confidence. After winning promotion last season, they had a decent pre-season only losing to Sheff United and AFC Dons. They looked like a unit and were not afraid to get stuck in. It was a deserved win.22 -

I haven't been overly impressed with some of Slade's selections so far, but starting Roger Johnson tonight after the events on Saturday was an absolute disgrace and he should be ashamed of himself. Just another puppet, by the looks of things.
Another rubbish display, I fear this season is going to plummet quickly. The frustrating thing is; some of the players we have are very good at this level. Ajose, Solly, Rudd, Pearce.5 -

I really am all up for "Support the team, not the regime" but when Slade follows up RoJo's bullshit on Saturday with that to Louis today it makes it really fucking difficult to distinguish the two.
