Russell Slade: Roger Johnson apologised for incident involving fans at Bury

More nonsense from Slade, he's really annoyed me recently. Notice how he doesn't unreservedly apologise for what Johnson did and say how important it is to not start on the fans, he says 'I heard there was something between a fan and Roger, I’ve spoken to him and said you can’t react and focus on the game.' That implies that the bastard fans are targeting him and he needs to block them out. Poor Roger, he just wants to play football badly and scream at Morgan Fox, and the horrible little supporters keep putting their opinions in after pathetic losses. Don't rise to it Roge. Russell's got your back.5

Never seen such division at a football club. It's Fans vs Owners vs Players/Staff.
It's never gonna work.10 -
I expect Latrien is currently stroking the fine downy hairs on Relegation Roger's ball sack in admiration as I type...
Fucking hate this club at the moment!1 -
We'll have the full interview on Thursday's show/ podcast so you can hear the answer as it was said.6

The major flaw in your argument is that, by all accounts, Johnson wasn't getting loads of abuse.Chrispy51 said:Just so I understand things correctly, some fans were giving a player who we all know can be a bit angry/shouty/sweary a load of abuse after we lost the game against bury. When said player got angry/shouty/sweary back at these fans they were somehow surprised and feel the need to cry on the internet about it?
Don't get me wrong, the fans pay money to see the game and should be able to vent at the players who don't look like they care, but I would be surprised if it was constructive criticism thrown at RoJo.
All the talk of 'support the team, not the regime' is fine if the team is actually supported. Lots of games last season I had someone behind me chanting 'support the team, not the regime' then the ball went to fox and the same guy started booing and shouting "don't pass to that useless c*nt".0 -

Brussells Lade saying Johnson apologised is no apology. The man should be forced to make a public apology through the Club's YouTube channel ... Whether he means it, is another matter but at least it will be humiliating for such a Big, Hard man.0

It wasn't generalised abuse, it was what Johnson actually said that makes it a genuine issue.Chrispy51 said:Just so I understand things correctly, some fans were giving a player who we all know can be a bit angry/shouty/sweary a load of abuse after we lost the game against bury. I agree with you inasmuch as in situation where players are having abuse hurled at them, and they have the temerity to respond, all of a sudden every fan is a nun and their poor little protected ears can't take it. But from many of the accounts, it doesn't sound like RoJo was getting abuse. If he was being abused, I think a fair few at the game, regardless of what they think of him as a person or footballer outside the incident, would respond with "yeah, the supporters gave something out, they got it back." But not seen that on here.Chrispy51 said:Just so I understand things correctly, some fans were giving a player who we all know can be a bit angry/shouty/sweary a load of abuse after we lost the game against bury. Don't think you would if a group of parents had been shouting and swearing at you. You would have been sacked for the levels of incompetence that he has shown , howeverbellz2002 said:If, as a teacher, I had sworn at a "customer" aka a parent, I would rightfully be sacked on the spot.
Everything that keeps happening at Charlton I think unbelievable, but really we shouldn't be surprised. Chrissy Powell or Curbs wouldn't have stood for this.

Three days later and he apologises through a third party (if you believe he actually did) and only then when pressed by his manager. If there was a shred of sincerity about this then he would have come out himself and apologised straight away.0

For me it says a lot about the mentality of the player. Whatever you think about what fans are saying, you shouldn't forget that you have just been beaten 2-0 by Bury. The sort of player we need should be even harder on themselves than the fans may have been.1

Welease Woger!6 -
Slade is a complete joke for accepting this.
Johnson should never have played for the club again after Saturday's events IMO.0 -
But Roger hasn't apologized has he. He may have apologized to teammates and his manager but you can't claim his has apologized to the fans.
He would have to issue a statement to actually do that.3 -

Collegue of mine her husband got involved in a verbal spat with Parkinson years ago after an away game. Afterwards Parkinson got in touch personally to apologise and say it was heat of moment and passions run high ect. Perhaps Johnson will do the same lol3

The thing is, is that he could easily get my number as his mum is close friends with the dad of one of my ushers. I made sure a message got back...Northstandpieeater said:Collegue of mine her husband got involved in a verbal spat with Parkinson years ago after an away game. This is why you'd think they would do the decent thing and start to build an exit strategy.ValleyGary said:Never seen such division at a football club. It's Fans vs Owners vs Players/Staff.

All we've had is the usual 'we've learned from our mistakes' followed by a woefully inadequate plan to fix it.
No one wins here.0 -

I'm quite sure I would be sacked if I told parents to "F*** off" clearly even if they were all moaning and swearing at me. I would however privately but not publicly. That's the difference. You have to remain professional.wmcf123 said:

The problem regarding RoJo incident is that it's our (fans) word against theirs. Unfortunately our word doesn't appear to have much sway at the moment.1 -
Don't like slade at all.0

Is it not normal for the apology to made to the victim?
2 -
Slade has joined the blowing smoke up our arse brigade .....full of shite ....should never have got the job ....1
-
I can see nothing odd about a player supposedly apologising three days later in private to a third party after that third party told him he'd been a bad boy. I do wonder, however, if a lowlife like Johnson has it in him to show remorse for anything and whether this was made up by Slade to get us off Johnson's back.sirjohnhumphrey said:Is it not normal for the apology to made to the victim?

What a difference a year makes. From Luzon benching Watt v QPR for alleged childish behaviour in training - then bringing him on at ht to score and assist in unexpected win - to Slade making up an apology for -and not dropping - potty mouth Johnson.
Come back, Guy, you're almost forgiven...2 -
It's a pity that Russ didn't include abusing your own supporters, in his little black disiplininary book that he was so keen to tell everyone about. I'd have it above failing to dine with team mates!
Just another indication of how low we have sunk.
