I've only seen him play at home and i think he's been pretty good.He looks steady, strong, quick and good in the tackle. How as he performed away from the valley and do you think he was a good signing?I think given a bit more time to adjust to the hussle and bussle of the English game,he will prove he's worth and become a great leader.
Early doors but i think he's a hit.

  • Only seen him at home but looks half decent. A "Lump" I think is the technical term.

like Faye, showed good early promise, has tailed off a bit and needs to pick it up again quickly.

    HIT

    HE IS A BEASTTT
  • Agree with AFKA. Due to the amount we have spent on him I would currently say hes sliding towards a miss.

As you say, still too early to call it either way. He looks good in the tackle sometimes but also his positional sense and speed of reaction is a bit suspect at times.

A promising start certainly but seems worryingly injury prone hence too early to say.

so far a hit for me. he makes me stand up and yell when he puts a tackle in... and shudder! especially on saturday BOOM... which player did he take out just in front of us?

if he can polish up on the parts that let him down he will be a massive hit. i love him and plan to give him longer time to pass full judgment.

I can't say I've actually seen much of him in action, just know what I've gleaned from the radio commentaries and I'd have to say he's great in the tackle and provides great prescence. But defending is about partnerships more than anything and I wish we could get someone in that would complement Diawara's game to a tee. A rock solid central defence (plus that one key midfielder) would leave us much more likely to beat the drop.

I wasn't there saturday, but do agree, hit so far for me.

I like the way he's no nonsense, and yeah, he's made some mistakes, but it surely must be hard not to when the other players are all playing badly. so i'm thumbs up for now!

I think he'd play well with Fortune (like Fortune did with Costa) but it seems that he has to play with the Elk because of the language barrier.

Early signs were a hit but I am having second thoughts. Increasingly, he seems to make very costly mistakes (eg Wigan away and his positional sense at Spurs was not good either). And you cannot afford to do that in our current position in the Prem. He certainly isn't a Jorge Costa and I suspect it may take him another 6 months to get the experience we require. The problem is that we haven't got 6 months and I for one would expect that for £4mill

I would love to be proved wrong though as going into the tackle he reminds me so much of Rufus

Too early to say after about 6 games, an injury, new club and country and tow different managers.

So far so good for me.

    MISS for me

He looks the part and could weel end up being the part BUT jury's out for me. Too dodgy defensively at times
  • My point is that if you wouldn't spend 4 million on a Championship player then you shouldn't spend it on a Ligue 1 player. Both leagues are about the same standard (bar Lyon and perhaps Lille). As Len says there's also the language barrier to consider. IMO people vastly underestimate this. Have you ever tried playing football with a bunch of guys who speak a different language? I have, and I can tell you that communication is harder than normal everyday speech.

Jury is still out for me.

Yes he has pace and yes he can tackle but I worry that the reason we have seen that so much is that his positioning is a little suspect at times.
  • this guy was overpriced period. but i thought he had a good game at chesterfield. he looks the part but not sure he is premiership class. he will be good in championship. not got the refinement of a player like rufus. i think good to have in the squad. but if your forget the price tag, i'm not so sure he stands out as the most expensive signing. everyone keeps talking of players going to improve. it seems a bit imaterial really because the decent one's will go if/when we go down.

I was at the 'signing event' today.

As soon as i walked in, i looked around and i saw a tall black guy, trying on a CAFC shirt, i didn't make too much of it straight away but...

but this guy turned round and started talking to himself in french that's when i noticed it was Souleymane.

One thing i noticed was that he cannot speak one iota of English, he had to use Talal as a trans-later for everything that was asked of him.

He also asked Talal in a deep french voice

'Shall i get the number 15 on the back'. very concerned.

As i am fairly tall, Talal asked me in a slightly higher pitched french accent

'Do you play football and basketball'

i answered no i just try and play Football, but from what I've seen this season i could be in the Charlton lineup soon :)

So this season if Diawara is playing without Talal beside him. I would be scared, very scared.

As there is major communication problems going on there!
  • Exactly. As a club we've never made this mistake before.

Who the hell is giving this guy English classes? He's been in England for several months now.

I'll give him classes. I'm an English teacher. And I speak French. Maybe I can help plug the Premiership's leakiest defence.

    Is Henry Irving reading this?

If we cained every player for the odd mistake,we'd be moaning alot more than we are already. He's better than Elk,Fortune,Faye,Hreidasson etc

ok agree it's a bit early but he's better than any other centre back at the club,a bit of time and im sure he'll be a success.
    Please...no tears
