Clown craze causes confusion at Charlton

Embarrassed Club officials were forced to apologise when police were called to The Valley at around mid-day today after a passer-by at the main gate reported hearing a steward say “Oh, Oh, the clown’s here” before he turned and ran inside.

It was quickly established that the member of staff in question had spotted CEO Katrien Meire at the far end of Ransom Walk on her way towards the Ground.

An internal investigation is now under way.
