Chelsea's kit deal, what would Charlton get

Our kit deal isn't with Nike anyway. If we could choose a supplier I'd like Umbro, a lot of their kits are bespoke and unfussy affairs3

and who are owned by Nike.0

I preferred it when we had a unique kit, even if it came from an obscure supplier. It's quite dull these days when you look through the EFL kits and see 15 with Nike templates, 12 with Adidas templates etc6 -
Farthing comes to mind.0

20p and a Curly Wurly for 10 season deal with Spall1

Kit deals aren't just about the money up front.
A lot of the value is in how much kit they supply to the club for the many teams (1st, U23, U18s, U16s etc etc) and how many coats, jackets, tracksuits.
The other big factor is the whole sale price.
If the supplier sell a shirt to Charlton for £20 or £30 will make a big difference on the margin Charlton make on a £45 or £50 sale.
But we outsource the shop anyway as Roland has a big thing about headcount so we have five less staff but less potential income.
Back in the day we'd do deals with smaller providers as the big boys weren't interested in clubs that only sold shirts in thousands rather than 10s or 100s of thousands. We're more of a polo shirt than replica shirt demographic as one supplier once said.
Plus suppliers like Macron were willing to pay more to get a foothold in the UK market.
So we might get less money but more value depending on how well we negotiate the deal. That we extended for another year with Just Sport as they were the only people willing to run the shop for us (Source Fizz Waller) shows you how good the current regime are at negotiating such deals3 -
The shop outsourcing started with the Spivs, I imagine rolling the deal on for another season was the "easy" decision, especially as replica shirt sales this year will show a significant drop on last year, but a one year deal doesn't suggest any long term commitment to Just SportHenry Irving said:Kit deals aren't just about the money up front.

It did start under the spivs and there are arguements either way about outsourcing but when the first question to all suppliers was "will you run the club shop for us?" then priorities all wrong (Source Fizz Waller).killerandflash said:

And one year deal shows that they didn't know what to do but needed to get something in place.
My guess is we'll go with a relatively small supplier who will give us a better deal on kits for our teams and a bespoke design.0 -
I assume if we went with a small supplier - e.g. Admiral, who do quite a nice kit for Wimbledon - we'd have to take the club shop in house again, as they wouldn't be interested in running a club shop?Henry Irving said:

Assuming the shop isn't turned into an NHS call centre as well!0 -

2 bob, would coincide as to how the club is being run0

The SMT signed a 1 year extension with Just Sport because they didn't sort the kit out in time and the only people who could bail us out were them.1
