  • Great cup tie and a deserved win against the highest ranked team in the cup so far . The team played well for each other and the goals were great , particular Lookmans first. Refreshing to have a nice atmosphere too with the boo boys absent . Glad I went .Onward and upward! C.O.Y.R.

... and everything in the garden is rosy.

  • Good result, and seeing that both sides put out fairly strong teams, a confidence booster that we can push on in this league and that Scunthorpe can be caught

I was following from Princes Park as Dartford lost 6-3 to Sutton Utd!

Nice atmosphere? There was no atmosphere!

Don't get all the little digs at the fans that wasn't there today, can you really blame people for not turning up after watching the dross that has been served up this season.
yes, because supporting your team means doing so through the hard times, not just the good. That's why a promotion or a cup win is so much more enjoyable when we are stuck in the lower leagues

So the problem at the moment is that we just aren't very good?
I can't believe what an idiot I've been with all this protest nonsense.

Good game between two evenly matched sides...not going to say anymore because if you really wanted to know you would have gone.

Going to do a longer post / thread later on the merits or not of boycotting games. I never boycotted going to Selhurst in the mid - late 80's and not going to start boycotting games at The Valley

Not saying I agree with the Regime, far from it, but I believe the team deserve our support.

The problem is going to home games means you also support the regime, financially. They're getting their bit from me by charging me their standard £2.50 admin charge for away games. You have to respect everyone's choice and if that means boycotting so be it.

I think it's a featured match on the BBC highlights. That might explain them keeping back the goals, if so. Spoke to a camera crew in Floyd Road before the game who had been asked by the BBC to film the build-up outside and were struggling to find any...

Good game , good game , tame atmosphere in the West Stand pre season friendly chattering the main noise from there .
Most has been said but Foley got away with a horrendous back pass and Fox made a great recovery when poorly trying to let a ball run out of play .
    Great turn out from Skatrienmeirehorpe.
Saw Covered End on the way in nice to meet you sir .
I still fancy our chances of making the play offs we aren't that bad a side .

    20% Round 2 ...... 45% Round 3 ..... 25% Round 4 ........ 7% Round 5 ...... 2% Quarter finals ...... 0.75% Semi finals ...... 0.24999999% Runners up ...... 0.00000001% FA Cup Winners 2017

F**k writing/working that out again hope we go out next round

I support the team and will not stay away from the Valley. Been going there for 55 years through thick and thin. People on here were slagging Slade yesterday before a ball was kicked. There are a lot of us who try to stay positive through what is sometimes dire football. Things are slowly improving. We aren't getting beat and the team is slowly starting to gel. But let's be honest, some of the whingers on here were probably calling for Curbishley head before slagging Parkinson, Francis, Church et etc, they are a breed. Never happy.
  • Pleased I went as it was a reasonably entertaining game and a team that was much better than I'd expected given what I'd been reading online.

Off the pitch I was surprised at the sparse numbers in the Anchor and Hope before the game and The Bugle Horn afterward, I was equally surprised at the numbers queuing for a drink in the West Stand Bar at half time. Obviously many aren't bothered about putting money into Roland's pocket.

I can't remember seeing so few people walking down Floyd Road on a Saturday match day. I've to seen the attendance figure but the club definitely made the right call in only opening the two areas.

Good result, decent performance. Maybe I'll go again one day!
  • We've won back to back home matches but people still want to come on here and argue. Keep up the off field protests but enjoy a home win and chill

    Overall a good performance.

    Pros

    - Magennis chasing down everything, he really reminds me of Yann in that aspect of his game
    - Lookman was superb, completely changed the game with two goals, had a decent chance for a hat-trick towards the end
    - Ulvestad is turning into part of the solution to our problem in the middle of the park, he was wxcdlldng again. yesterday

    Cons

    - Foley is genuinely terrible
    - Holmes, do we know the extent of his injury yet ? I was surprised Slade picked him yesterday and had Lookman on the bench when he knew he'll have Holmes but not Lookman next week, he might not have either now.

A picture tells a story just as well as, if not better than, a lot of written words. Sad times indeed :disappointed: .

A few short weeks ago we were in a slough of despond after terrible home performances against Oldham and Rochdale. This was a complete turnaround in terms of performance and attitude.

I sat right behind the dugout yesterday.
Felt sorry for Slade who received a torrent of abuse from one fan because Holmes was injured. You could see he felt every word.
Yes he's been far too defensive in both his formations, and his tactics, but he's getting there now maybe? Two up front is paying off despite Ajose failing to ignite.
Ulvestad and Crofts are beginning to form a decent midfield partnership, and JJ also benefitted from a runout -although won't be first choice now for league matches I would think.

Lookman of course did well when he came on and his goals were excellent, especially the first, but I wonder if it isn't now time to try him up front with Magennis. He is at his most dangerous in and around the opposition box - and defensively he is a bit of a liability, so playing him up front would strengthen both the attack and the midfield.

Fox was excellent, and Foley is best kept as cover for Solly, rather than being used in midfield.

Rudd was brilliant today, best game I've seen from him, and it was by far his busiest.

Still want to see more of Botaka who Slade doesn't seem to trust except in the impact sub role.
But generally his signings are beginning to pay off, so credit to him for that.

Shocking crowd though. But those who was there were treated to the best match of the season.

Yours is not the only example @masicat but I never understand why people want to highlight a split on here as if it is unique, and that there is 100% what they perceive to be negativity. There are people 'in the ground' that slag Slade off constantly (like the fellow that @jdmotion highlights above), others that give our own players dogs abuse for 90 mins, yet it's negatively 'on here' that repeatedly gets raised / highlighted. Same thing happened in the match thread yesterday when someone sought to dig out 'the moaners' when there hasn't been a negative comment in the previous four pages.

Look back through through this thread and you will see a broad range of contributions from people at the game and those staying away. Considering there was probably less than 3k of paying home fans present that's what we should expect to be reflective

When you say 'nice atmosphere', do you mean a really really quiet one with an attendance that some league 2 sides would be disappointed with?

Not enough of our midfielders have been displaying that particular quality. Good to see Ulvestad serving up plenty of it. Again.

  • Not a coincidence that results have improved since ulvestad has been wxcdlldng.

Sounds like a well earned 3 points which will keep us in touch with our promotion contenders and a 6 pointer against our rival for league Champion. Hats off to Fraeye and the lads.

Another reason I enjoyed the match was sitting with different supporters (no offense to my near neighbours in Upper West of course).
One of them supported the team in Jimmy Seed's day, and was was quite surprised when he heard I'm his grandson.
There was talk about the regime and the protests, with a few people taking the 'devil you know' line.

So will Slade now attempt a more attacking set up away from home? We need to start winning away if we want a promotion push.
