By nice atmosphere I meant it felt friendly and positive .Recent games have had a depressing negativity around the stands.There were smiles on fans yesterday . Roland out but lets enjoy good football when we see it!4

I have and probably will slag off Slade some more, but yesterday he played as strong a team in the cup as relation to the first team as any Charlton manager in recent history. I give him credit for that.5

Too many comments on here about the sparse Charlton crowd.
Scunthorpe offered free travel to their supporters. They could have brought 3,000. They actually brought how many? Just over 600?
So, are we blaming the regime for the indifference of the Scunthorpe fans?

There were only 3500 Charlton fans there and that would have been the same if the iron had filled the Jimmy South Stand.
It was a poor turn and a flat atmosphere which was a shame as it was the best game of the season (that I've seen) and a great result.

Not saying I agree with the Regime, far from it, but I believe the team deserve our support.
I support the team and will not stay away from the Valley. Been going there for 55 years through thick and thin. People on here were slagging Slade yesterday before a ball was kicked. There are a lot of us who try to stay positive through what is sometimes dire football. Things are slowly improving. We aren't getting beat and the team is slowly starting to gel. But let's be honest, some of the whingers on here were probably calling for Curbishley head before slagging Parkinson, Francis, Church et etc, they are a breed. Never happy.1 -

People routinely overestimate the occupancy of stands they are sitting in, to be fair. It was about two thirds full. The wings were sparse but that wasn't clear from the central blocks.3 -

Didn't go but absolutely delighted that we won. Hope we get a decent draw in the second round. Would like to see us progress. Not even a tie against one of the big guns in latter rounds will pursuade me to attend another match under this regime.0

I am not sure quoting attendance figures the worst of which was still 25% better than yesterday offers any comfort. Very much a case of words and figures differ.
Can we be clear the debate started here with those who attended yesterday "digging out" those who did not.
All this nonsense about supporting through the good and bad does not mean it is mandatory for people to attend every match.
The object of sport is to enjoy the experience not suffer unrelenting disappointment or boredom in a sparsely populated stadium while trying to relate to an organisation which has churned through over 100 players in 3 seasons.
If you perceive you are supporting the same club you have always supported then if I respect your position but kindly have the good grace to respect those who have a different perception.
The performances have, to date, been pedestrian at best. That they produced the goods yesterday is most welcome but in truth the game could have gone either way. In fairness so could any number of draws we have experienced this season which may or may not have produced a more positive outlook.
So I agree why not enjoy a moments positivity without digging out other supporters with a "holier than thou" mentality. If you chose to go you were rewarded with a good game and I am pleased for you.
Others decided they had better things to do which they may or may not have equally enjoyed. Who knows? Judging from the photographs, even with desultory still manufactured attendance figures, they were hardly alone in their thinking.
If you think the long term future of any successful sustainable viable football club lies in such attendances then history would suggest you are mistaken. Increasing numbers have increasingly little time for the small time mediocrity of Duchatelet Enterprises FC.
If you think that is in the long term interests of the team while I respect your position you will have to forgive those who hold a different view.
Just enjoy the game..if you can.

Well, that was enjoyable. We won. We beat a team higher than ourselves, and arguably a better team than ours too. We had a few dodgy moments but that's to be expected against the league leaders. For the first time in a while, it seems as if the management are taking the cup seriously, which is nice.
What I have found less enjoyable is the few who have come on here to rub a much needed win in the faces of fellow fans. Sorry, but that for me began with the holier than thou bunch who went yesterday, not those who loathe the regime. Yesterday was a good day for the club on the pitch. Anyone who can look at the attendance from our fans and be happy is clearly on a different reality. Yesterday was another kick up the ass for the regime. If I needed our fans to tell me it was a kick in the teeth for the protesters (of whom there weren't any yesterday) I would go elsewhere where that sort of fan hang out. As some have said, it would be nice if we could enjoy a good win against superior opposition, but there are some who seem to feel the need to dig out the fans.
Maybe they should wonder at the empty terraces. That isn't CARD, it's fans who have gone. Quite a few won't return ever. There aren't the numbers on CL to blame that on here. They have gone because they don't want to pay hard earned money for rubbish football. Hopefully if we have genuinely turned a bit of a corner, some will return. But we have lost a good few for good, and blaming the 'whingers' is very misplaced.12 -
