    Allan Simonsen
    Jonjo Shelvey
    Yann Kermorgant
    Paul Walsh

  • A good category.
I did not pick Simonsen, he was good but did not grasp who he was playing with ( not really his fault) I saw a number of his games and his paeans were on a different level. No one else in the team could read them. As for Shelvey I never got him at Charlton- he was young but would not head a ball and never tacked properly.
Paul Walsh a different class. Saw him at Orient glide passed 4 players.

Oo....I like Gomez....good choice. But Reid played in Div One.
Ok Wiggins then. The fit version.

    Kermorgant, Hales

Rodney Marsh once had a load of photos taken of him for a magazine, i can't remember which one but they chose him playing against Charlton for the shoot. Peter Reeves was in every photo he never left marsh alone all game.
    Pure class

They would if they were old farts like me and you  .
  • Marvin Hinton did not play that many games. Alan Campbell a very good player. There is a but, he never passed the ball quickly. Always stopped controlled the ball then passed. So not in my team, but only just.

Behave Billy or else I'll replace you in my team with Curtis. Hinton played 131 times for us from 1957 to 1963, was capped at England U23's and was snapped up by Chelsea in the top division who he served admirably. Campbell was a little Scottish youth and U23 international wizard who also played at a higher level with Brum and acquitted himself well. There's no right or wrong it's each to their own  .
  • Oh dear my " youth " is giving me away. I did not go to the Valley until 1961 so did not know Marvin played that many games. As we all know " history does not matter"
Alan C was one of my favourite players.
I will now start a new thread -
Best Header of a ball. Thread closed - only one answer Matt Tees.

A tricky one between him and Yann. Tees not the biggest but soared and hung. Yann not the biggest (tallest) but his knack was knowing the trajectory soon after it was launched and often got his header in without leaving the ground.

I know it's going to sound like I'm massively patting myself on the back but how is it that I'm the only one to have named Diarra?

You better pat me on the back too....he's in my side.
  • Webster, Pitcher, Bumstead? NURSE!!!!!!!!

All good players in a side which nearly made the playoffs, which is higher than we've achieved since relegation from the PL in 2007!

Based off what I've seen since mid 90s

    Hamer
    Solly
    Wiggins
    Gomez
    Ben Haim
    Shelvey
    Jackson
    Stephens
    Lookman
    Kermorgant
    BWP

Similar era but I'd have Nicky Bailey and Rob Elliot in there. Maybe Dailly over Ben Haim.

Shelvey frustrated me in a CAFC shirt - all his long range shots. He was trying to hard to do it all on his own. He got better after he left us.
