£5million? Wow. Can't see it being that high but good bit of business, if true.

Never understood why Parky played Simon Francis ahead of him and loaned Jenks to a Conference side. Madness.

I though last season that Arsenal looked stronger when he was playing, his ability to attack and his crosses seemed more dangerous then Sagna's.

Do we get a sell on fee?

Me too. I said at the time that he just didn't have the qualities (mainly pace) for a team expecting to be playing in Europe.
He's well suited to a lower tier prem team though.

Should West Ham sign him, I wouldn't be surprised if Allardyce doesn't give him a chance at some point at centre half.

Arsenal clearly have a world class partnership and he was never going to be given a go at CB but he has, to me, all the attributes of a player capable of playing in that position.

He made over 50 first team appearances for Arsenal. My attitude to him changed when I discovered that he insisted that the Gunners should pay us a full compensation package. I would hope that a sell on fee was part of that.

At 22 he really does now need to be a regular if his career is to develop , Wenger clearly does not see him as one , so a move to West Ham would probably be in everyone's interests.

Would we get any money out of this?

    Should we? Yes

Will we? Who knows but my guess is will would have a clause that we get a slice of any PROFIT on the sale but that assumes he is sold for more than Arsenal paid.
Wouldn't surprise me if the previous regime sold it early for buttons.

Not unknown for Charlton to have factored debts like this.

One thing Jenkinson does not lack is pace which would have been a major factor in Wenger buying him.

The same Simon Francis that is now one of Bournemouth's best players at Championship level. He also got several assists despite the claim on here that his crossing ability was a myth.

We also had Solly ahead of Jenkinson at the time. There was no room for 3 right backs at the time.

Easy to say Parky didn't need to sign Francis as he had Solly and Jenkinson coming through, but there are some currently saying we need another centre back, central midfielder and goalkeeper (I do agree on the goalkeeper and central midfielder) when potentially any of Pope, Gomez, Lennon and any of the young midfielders could make the step up.

I never doubted Francis' ability going forward and it was clear he could always cross a ball. It was his tendency to get caught up field and out of position that was his biggest weakness.

Solly was behind Jenkinson in the pecking order back then and also had injuries. When Jenkinson wouldn't sign a contract, Solly got in the side.

Yes, Francis has come good at Bournemouth. He was woeful for us for whatever reason, both as a defender and an attacking full back.

I saw Francis at QPR (was working) and I quote like alan hanson "absolutely woeful"

In the position we were in and the resources we had at our disposal we needed an experienced right back to replace Richardson in the summer of 2010 . Francis was good enough last season for Derby to enquire about his services a month ago and was a key part of a Bournemouth team who did very well.

In the same way purchasing Ben Haim and Bikey mean that Gomez and Lennon do not need to be risked unnecessarily this season , but if like Jenkinson and Solly did they emerge as regulars, then like Francis they would also move on to pastures new.

He's still Arsenal's second choice right-back. Can't see them letting him go personally otherwise they're very exposed in that position if Debuchy gets injured.

The fans love him as well, so maybe a loan could be in both teams' interest.

I went to The Emirates last season and I'm not so sure that's the case. You think we have scapegoats…

Some fans admire his attitude, but they are such a bunch of tosseurs they boo if they're only 1-0 up at half time.

Perhaps Wenger has finally watched the video of him away at Dag & Red.
