Been pretty ambivalent about KR's appointment until yesterday but we were excellent, played genuinely good stuff in the first half and it's a mystery as to how we didn't score. Game got very stretched in second 45 - with neither team making the right decisions in the final third.
Haven't seen a Charlton manager with as much enthusiasm for the team and the club for years. Long may it continue.10 -
Great afternoon. Had a nice pint in the 'Corn Dolly' real ale pub with home fans before the game. Very friendly and welcoming and good humour about football behind the scenes, explainingour B&W scarves and protest shirts. As for the game. We played really well again, Last saw us at Port Vale. Thought this time out we were more superior and it was luck more than KR's judgement that prevented us from getting three points. Bradford pay exciting open football, as do we now and it was disappointing to hear the half-time and full-time whistles. Not enjoyed a drawn match of football as much for quite a while. The team look like a team and not a bunch of players out of form trying to hide whilst passing the ball to anyone to deflect attention onto themselves. If this is how Karl sets up a team to play, long may it continue.
A mention to the Colin fan club we stood next to. It was all in good banter humour, nothing nasty or abusive. He even appeared to smile broadly as he left the field on 90 minutes. A great away day.6 -
Got back late last night. Bloody diversion on the M1!!
Very encouraging performance yesterday afternoon. We were the better side first half and really, really should have scored. 2nd half Bradford came back at us without really threatening.
Bauer's 2nd yellow was very harsh, im not even sure it was a foul. Hansen just ran into him. That said, other than that decision, the ref had a very good game.
Magennis was superb 1st half and the Bradford back 4 couldn't cope with him. My other shoutout is to Chicksen who had a very good game and should hold his place. Bauer also excellent and was seriously stropping down by the tunnel after the game - I don't blame him.

Bradford fans after game were saying after the game one of the best teams they've seen this season.

The two yellows for Bauer looked harsh, but I can see why they were given and they are probably correct.
If an opposition player had got those two yellows I would probably think 'fair enough'.
The referee is certainly not one of the best, I saw him at Gillingham where everybody was finding fault with him from both sides.
Listening to the commentary from the Bradford commentators, they were pretty critical of the ref, yet were also glad he didn't give us what they thought was a clear early penalty.
KR mentioned the penalty post match.
This is one area however where I think KR could be a lot more shrewd and canny. He has encouraged putting pressure on officials since he has been here, and in previous interviews at MKD.
I wonder if Karl can honestly say that he has had a decision overturned, or had some other kind of gain by his adversarial attitude to officials. For a start the officials can be pretty poor, like yesterdays, but so can the weather, so can the pitch.
It is possible to be collectively more, errrm, seductive towards match officials rather than hostile, and they may then be more benevolent towards your cause, and anyway too much going at officials smells a bit like excuse making.
I think Brian Clough was able to accept match officials for what they were, and he didn't do too badly. I know he is passionate and romantic, and wants to show common cause with his players, but there is an alternative strategy which Karl might do well to consider.0 -

Really good performance and a great match - if anyone asks you how a game that ends 0-0 can be exciting then this one should provide the answer.
Magennis was incredible, Phillips looked like a real first team 'keeper but the stand out for me was Chicksen. Hopefully we're going to see a real battle with him and Fox for that starting left back role.
Robinson was very positive in his tactics and team selection, away to a good team with a vastly depleted squad it would have been easy to have been overly defensive - I have no doubt that that's how Slade would have set us up. Only question was why he brought on Jackson, wasn't sure what role he was supposed to be fulfilling and he didn't look 100% fit (I think he's suffering from this plague which has struck Sparrows Lane).
Centre of the park is still a concern but Robinson will already have recognised that and if he can find a solution to that problem in January then the second half of the season could be really good for us.3 -
