    2 things spring to mind.

    1. ZZ finally gets the rest he needs, worth keeping as he'll be a key player for us

    or...

    2. they'll rush him back, play him not fully fit or injected, and he will be no good for us long term.

    Without really knowing what is wrong, i suspect it will be 2.

    Herniated discs are not that serious these days because the operation to remedy them is very simple and safe. If he needs the operation and has it soon then he would very likely be back playing by christmas.

    I think the fact their manager said ""We will not easily let Zheng Zhi sit out (the Olympics), he is China's best player at the moment, the Olympic team needs him, but we need a Zheng Zhi in top form," suggests they'll do whatever they can to have him playing. However he contradicts himself as how can ZZ be on top form when he's injured.
    It also says he played most of their WC qualifiers injured.

    he will probable play in the Olympics and do himself a greater mischief by playing with an injury and then come back knackered and in need of a long rest ie during the new season when we desperatly need players like Zizi.

    Always look on the bright side of life .......

    So he plays his token match to tell his kids that he took part in the Olympic games in China - which will be vital to any of their players.

    He then has his operation and comes back to our 1st team a 'new' player in time for the Xmas fixtures.

    Meanwhile, he won't be part of the lightweight central midfield pairing with Holland.
    Which will give us the chance to play a tough tackling, all action box to box player.
