  • The latest set of injuries has pretty much put paid to our play off ambitions in my view.

It was always a big ask considering the points gap between us and those spots and unless RD loosens the purse strings to at least bring in one decent league 1 level striker for Magennis then our season is effectively over. The squad is too unbalanced and lacking in decent cover for injuries. Now where have I seen that before????

Mid table mediocrity beckons and a new manager in the Summer!

We are 7 points off the playoffs with 20 games to go.

We've taken 8 points from the last 12 available, which is 2 points per game. That form should definitely see us there or thereabouts, and that has been against the backdrop of a rapidly shifting squad with a litany of injuries. I know we've not been brilliant to this point, but we are not out of the playoffs, far from it.

I have one adults and two under 11s tickets available for the family stand. Free to anyone who can collect from Forest Hill on Friday or the Eltham/Sidcup area on Saturday lunch time.

Start a thread, it might get missed here.
  • Any team that loses 4 centre backs would struggle coupled with the loss of Big Josh.Hope the boo boys give RJ a chance.Tough but winnable game.See you tomorrow Stevie.COYR

Agreed, we have to play RJ so booing him throughout the same won't help anyone.

Incidentally, what's wrong with Lennon? At the start of the season, weren't the medical team giving updates, whereas they've gone quiet now. I had assumed he was just out of favour, not injured

3-0 defeat, if anything like last week's performance.

2-0 to Scunny ( RJ to give away a penalty 1st half, then score an own goal in the 2nd to complete the misery).

Yeah things have been strangely quiet on him but he's been injured for a few weeks now.

Called off at 11am due to a frozen pitch. One prediction that I hope is wrong.

No excuse for that now that we have undersoil heating (if RD will sanction the cost of switching it on???)

We've looked vulnerable at the back with Bauer and Texeira in recent weeks, with wank face and Konsa there we are potentially looking at a pasting. 0-3.

not so long ago the number of centre backs in the squad was a topic of mirth and ridicule .. strange how circumstances change .. tomorrow, despite the injury and suspension plague, we will still be able to field two 'real' centre backs and have one left over to put on the bench ..

alas, if only this were also the case with 'proper' strikers
  • 2.1 Scunthorpe to kill off any lingering hope of reaching the playoffs. Squad nowhere near strong enough to cope with a few injuries.
Another season wasted by the regime.
Only thing to look forward to is a few beers with me mates

Ah, the social aspect that Roland's so interested in at the expense of football success.

Just shows how deep you have to go to have real strength in depth. CBs only area where that (just about) applies.

No club would be able to cope with that many injuries in that position. Imagine if Chelsea had 4 CBs injured or suspended, who they'd play there.

Halving the number of absent players for other positions, any team would struggle if they had 2 LBs injured or centre forwards.

Agreed. Again, we're in League One. A squad of 25 full senior pros is just unrealistic, and I don't see any other team in the division who has that, or even who has a significantly bigger squad than ours. I'd guess that every other team in the league would have to play two kids/players out of position if this happened to them.

Here's my match preview for the Trust. I've really enjoyed watching Aribo over the last three games, but personally I wouldn't mind if he were rested. He struggled against Millwall and may benefit from coming off the bench having played 90 minutes in two of the last three games and 78 in the other. Will be interesting to see who starts on the left wing as well as up front.

Well having watched last weeks performance, I cannot see where the win will come from. I think Scunthorpe are a far better team than Millwall. So taking into account, we can setup as best we can, with the injuries we have, a 1-1 draw.

Mid table obscurity is beckoning, to many chances to kick on have come and gone.

One of their better players is also suspended Kevin Van Veen, striker who has scored 10 goals this season.

A 49 year old from the Bangladesh second division at the back and no strikers against the best in the league.

0.0 at best or we get hammered and Sir Gobby brings another home video to the post match presser.

I hope I'm wrong but expect to be turned over with what looks like a very weak team.

Let's hope Jack Frost might save us.

What position does he play, CF I hope

Now that REALLY would be another sound reason for knocking the regime !

    Nothing would surprise me .
  • Match postponed and only played when Magennis and Bauer are fit again, sounds a good idea!

A feature of the 3-1 FA Cup win over Scunthorpe back in November was Stephen Dawson putting it about a bit. He's actually a fine player, but his style is overly aggressive at times. The way he took out Ricky Holmes, who Scunthorpe had clearly identified as our danger man, looked cynical to me, but he didn't even pick up a booking for it.
But it's good news that Kevin Van Veen is suspended .

I can't see us scoring many, if any, with everything crossed i'm going for 1-1 with Johnson getting ours from a corner to rub it in followed by in the last 5 minutes he scores an own goal......
