Given the name of the film and the fact we are on a Charlton forum I am stunned there is not a thread about this.
Love all of Welsh 's stuff and his characters are great and really looking forward to this.

Is this film based on Porno or did he just write a seperate screenplay?0
-
Always found the funny looks on the train amusing when I used to read porno on the train, I was about 17/18 at the time.

@cafcdave123 I actually have a huge soft spot for Hibs on the back of his books0

You'll have a soft spot in the back of your head from my hammer if you ever say that to my face !2

It is losely based on Porno. However, the film is set much further on than the book. Read an interview with Welsh and Boyle where they went to great lengths to stress that its only losely linked to the book.PopIcon said:Is this film based on Porno or did he just write a seperate screenplay?
Also read a couple of favourable reviews from people who have seen it at previews.
Really looking forward to it, love all of his writing.
Rumour has it a screen play is being worked on for The Blademan.1 -

You actually look like one of the proclaimers (the ugly one)1

Tony W would prefer the jammies. Love Irvine's books, always make me smile.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:@cafcdave123 I actually have a huge soft spot for Hibs on the back of his books

The way they're lined up there, sort of in square with the cavalry behind, made me think of the British at Isandlwana, heavily outnumbered and facing a mountainside of singing natives.0 -
You can't have gone to the friendly at Easter Road 10 years ago then, their fans were absolutely foaming at the mouth to slag off Charlton/the English.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:@cafcdave123 I actually have a huge soft spot for Hibs on the back of his books

I enjoyed the book Trainspotting, so I read Filth, which was crap. I havn't read another book by him and don't intend to but I'll probably check the film out as I liked the first one. But if I want to read a Scottish author I prefer Ian Rankin or Iain Banks.0

And you compare that to when the Jam Tarts came down in 98 for curbs' testimonialse9addick said:

That friendly at Easter Road was extra weird as I had just moved to Edinburgh literally a couple of weeks prior to the game - an interesting "welcome" !0 -
Saw it at the weekend.
Think it might divide opinion although I really enjoyed it, the actors/characters are top notch once again.
Robert Carlyle is the best angry Scotsman ever.0 -
Very good all round. A must watch if you saw the first one in 960

Went on Saturday afternoon. Love all of Irvine Welsh's books and love the 1996 film. Was actually a little stressed before the film started as I was worried it was going to be a let down.
No need to worry, absolutely loved it. Very very losely based on Porno but was essentially a number of themes from various books tossed into 2 hours.0 -
Decent, shame it was more a trip down memory lane than a film in it's own right.0
