True, shame he's not very good though
  • I quite rate Botaka. He changed the game at Southend and has made a good impact during the little playing time he's had with us.

Probably deserves more game time than he gets.

He did. Great cameo appearance - did really well to play in Aribo for the assist.

I think he is good for the last 10 to 15 minutes. Nothing wrong in that either. You need players who can change the game on the bench and some are just better at it. Botika is one of the best in the squad at doing this so glad to have him back.

Robinson mentioned on the post Bolton analysis that he was after a striker/winger to complete his 'set' .. Botaka could/should/would fit this remit but perhaps Robinson does not fancy him ?

Couldn't see a thread for the African Cup of Nations, Ghana v Mali kicks off at four, live on Eurosport. Anyone know why this is allowed to be broadcast during the normal Saturday afternoon blackout hours ? Different rules for international tournaments ?

Because virtually no one will be watching ?

I'd watch. You see some great matches at the ACN.

Two months ago I was calling for Botaka to start, but it's a sign that we're making progress that I couldn't see that happening now.

We've got one of those. Unfortunately Roland believes his wages are better spent if he plays for STTV.

He started him in the last Charlton game before the ACoN...

That was before we signed Byrne and Holmes was back.

Botaka is decent to come off the bench and try to make things happen if needed, but there's no way I can see him getting in front of Byrne and Holmes now.

Didn't BBC3 show the last ACN?

    Has Botaka played much?

I don't believe Botaka has featured at all, but he will be used to having splinters in his arse.

So he'll come back having lost all his sharpness and match fitness...

Exactly that.. it's a good thing he doesnt come back injured but he spent a few weeks in Gabon not playing and not training at the same intensity that Robinson's sessions would be at. He also now has a long flight home.

Not against him going, would have been great for him personally, just a shame he went and didn't even get to play.

With our luck with injuries, it would be good to have him around

With our luck with injuries, he'll slip a disc getting his bag off the carousel.

Anyone watching AFCON (where does the "F" come from btw?) final ? Egypt looking sharp in the first few minutes.

Next tournament is in Cameroon and as there isn't a decent World Cup or Euros to attend as a fan I'm seriously considering going - looks like it would be lots of fun as a fan.

    AFrica Cup Of Nations.

ACON then, maybe they added the "F" for branding reasons !
  • He made 1 sub appearance in the 3-1 win against togo
