A human rights lawyer who brought abuse claims against UK troops after the Iraq War has been struck off for misconduct.
Phil Shiner, from the now-defunct law firm Public Interest Lawyers, had 12 charges of misconduct proved against him by a panel of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.
He had admitted acting recklessly by publicly claiming UK troops unlawfully killed, tortured and mistreated Iraqis.
The defence secretary said Mr Shiner had "made soldiers' lives a misery".
Sir Michael Fallon told the BBC he was "delighted" that Mr Shiner had been "exposed".
How can tossers like this sleep at night?
I expect more misconduct cases to emerge for these traitorous blood-sucking scum

Agreed. The Iraqi families who were led to believe that their loved ones had not just died, but been tortured..as if they hadn't suffered enough.

Any lawsuit against an individual performing his duties as an employee of a government agency should automatically have an implied liability on said government who should defend any action on behalf of both parties. Rigourously.3

I have a few good mates who are still in the forces and I have 'worked' with a few.
The general feeling among them is that in general they feel let down by the government, however this decision will go someway to redressing the balance.
Good riddance.4 -

I hope that the CPS is making a thorough investigation of this man's activities, at least as thorough as the investigations into alleged 'murders' committed by British troops in Ireland over forty years ago for which ex soldiers will soon be standing trial2 -

We must remember that not all human rights lawyers are like this. He represents a tiny proportion of those that follow the same profession as him.
