Thanks Redmidland for all your work in the past, best wishes for the future which sounds more exciting than watching Charlton at the moment.

Cancelled Cafc player after last season.
Not long been following the match thread for away games and I've enjoyed them much more than the commentary.

    Than you and good luck

Just like to add my thanks to RM for his sterling service over the years. However much going to a game may lack appeal, Ive followed these threads avidly and been immensely grateful for them.

Best wishes to you, RM, it sounds as though you're in for an exciting time, and I hope you have a ball.
  • Since moving to Devon 10 years ago and deteriorating health I am no longer able to get to the Valley of dreams ( or nightmares recently ) so your match threads have been a lifeline, now we come to the end of an era so godspeed my never met friend.

    Dear Mr RedMid.

A big thank you for all your efforts.

As an exiled Addick who can only get to see half a dozen matches a season, your match threads have been a vital link in keeping me connected from both here in Sunny Cornwall and from time to time, grubby old Marseille where my girlfriend is working.

What are we going to do without you?

Best wishes and good luck with your new adventures!

  • Thanks again RM

Good luck RM. If you're ever in the San Francisco area look me up and we can enjoy a couple of nice glasses of red wine together. I could even take you Napa wine tasting. :-)
  • No-one does match threads quite like @Redmidland! Will miss you lots - huge thanks from me. All the best on your travels and explaining the ins and outs of GDPR to all and sundry! Above all, stay well.
  • PS Give me a shout if your travels take you as far as the exotic city of Glasgow...

The words 'thanks RM for the updates' are as much a part of the end of match traditions as the old bbc radio 5pm results service used to be, at least for those who still feel like commenting further at the end of 90 minutes of Charlton.
RM, you have done this on a weekly basis for god knows how long, and for the last few years, with the burden that much of the football didn't deserve a commentary so much as a midnight burial.
You have sincere thanks from this 'addick in exile', you'll be sorely missed in the near future, but I wish you much happiness and success in your future travels.
  • Good luck on your travels Red and thanks for your live match threads which have been invaluable following The Reds from abroad. Enjoy the new experiences wherever you go and take great care.

Same here. Redmidland has done stirling work on the match threads, and will now become an international superstar globetrotter.

International? Certainly, he's been to Scotland by the looks of it!

Seriously, Red, you've been a godsend during my boycott and for the away games I've not been able to get to. If your replacements aren't up to your standard, you may have to cut short your world tour and come back.
  • So farewell then (for now),
    Redmidland.
    Motta... Yaya... Motta... Suk-young... Fanni,
That was your catchphrase last season.

Red - is South Africa (Cape Town) on your schedule?

It will be next year @The_President. I worked in Cape Town in 2007-2009.

Redmidland - Your essential reports from the front line have had us at home palpitating as we hit the F5 key for the umpteenth time. Very best wishes for your travels and new career.

  • Ahh this has to be one of those 'Fake News' articles. I bet Trump is behind it, as this is way above the pay grade of Katrien or even the Big Belgian Cheese himself.

I really can't believe it. It's just not cricket. But all good things must come to an end and better to go out on a high. I have a feeling that one day, like SCP, @Redmidland will return to match updates and Charltonlife order will be restored.

All the best and so much thanks for your dedication to serving your fellow Addicks. Have a great time on your way around the globe. Maybe you could see (post) where the most obscure place is that a CARD sticker might be found (or left).

Having met Wally and considering him a mate above all things German Shepherd and Charlton Athletic. We've laughed together and I'm pretty sure we've cried together, Ive crashed at his gaff and he's crashed at mine and we've certainly got ratarsed together. But I'd like to echo all the nice things said about him on this thread and leave with this picture I took when I was visiting Redmidland Towers as Wally was doing his match report, renowned for blaming someone else for getting nothing from the ground his kit is as old as he is. Much love from us both Wally and stay safe. image

As a current abstainer, @Redmidland and his trusty cohorts have kept us so informed, I can almost hear the echoes around the ground. Whilst I know others will step, you'll be sorely missed by us all...and by your local wine merchant as well I'm sure  safe travels.

@The_President I worked in the 'office area' cant remember the name of the road now, I was there setting up a contact centre for a UK based company working with, the then, new voice recognition technology. As for GDPR it could well me a money spinner, most companies so far have done little to make sure they are ready for it both in the UK and their subsidiaries worldwide.
I'll contact you when I know Im going.

Only as long as you don't talk about football!
