For some reason I thought Page was unavailable. I'd play him as well.Redrobo said:
Weaker links than Croft are Botika and Watt. Homes plays better on the RHS in my opinion. If we were going to play 4 4 2 I would play Page at LB and Chicksen LW and Mag is far better than Watt even on an off day.JamesSeed said:Konsa is still injured I think?
4 4 2
Phillips
Byrne Bauer Teixeira Chicksen
Botaka Crofts Aribo Holmes
Mavididi Watt
My weak link here is Crofts, even though this is only League 1
If Konsa was fit I'd play him instead of Crofts.
Rudd Jackson Novak Magennis Forster-Caskey Dasilva
I'm confident this team could lose 3-0
I'd play Mavididi up the middle, as Magennis hasn't been at the races since the injury. Watt has been ok every time I've seen him (missed Oxford thank god). So one more chance, up top with Mavididi.
Give them the ball in and around the penalty area, instead of the half way line and they might even score.0 -
Speaking as a pessimist (well, more a paranoid delusional optimist), remind me how that little speech worked out for young Mr Keegan...AddickFC81 said:So much pessimism on here. Rudd
Byrne Bauer Tex Page
........ Konsa.. JFC
Mavididi .. Aribo... Watt
.......... Mag
I know I've been saying it for a while but I think it's time to drop Crofts for Konsa. I think Konsa holds better, giving both JFC freedom to roam and allowing Byrne to push forward and provide width on the right. Aribo, Watt, and Stephy should be interchanging to create space. I'm just going on the player but it sounds like Holmes hasn't been great since coming back from injury.
The other thing I'd be tempted to do is drop Mag and start Watt up front with one of Holmes or Botaka on the right and Mavididi on the left. It doesn't sound like Mag has been poor, but it may be that this formation works better with a more mobile center forward who drops deep or pulls out wide allowing space for runners.0 -
I had an idea to post around the fact this is the first game for a fiver that I haven't brought in....oh god can't be bothered any more1

Just lumping it up to Mag isn't the way to go so, yes, why not try Watt and Didi together/JamesSeed said:Konsa is still injured I think?

A big 3-0 win.
If we keep today's goof form going we will be certainties for the play offs and maybe automatic promotion.1 -

I was at the Bury game at The Valley when we won 4-0 in the 60's - barely out of nappies, of course.MrLargo said:Firstly, huge congratulations to Karl Robinson, who, on Tuesday evening, became the first manager to lose a home league fixture to Oxford United in the entire history of Charlton Athletic, costing me £25 in the process. Well done Karl.
Here's a good statistic for optimists, delusionists and straw clutchers. Prior to this season, Charlton have been in the same division as Bury on only three occasions since 1970 and won promotion every time - 74/75, 97/98 and 11/12.
Here's a good statistic for pessimists, realists and any masochists looking for something to do on Saturday afternoon. The last time we won a home fixture against Bury, Harold Wilson was Prime Minister, England were World Champions, the Ford Cortina Mk 2 had just been launched and a magazine called "Fiesta", which went on to feature heavily in my extra-curricular GCSE reading list, had recently hit the shelves for the first time. 22 October 1966, Charlton 4-0 Bury. Not sure who the scorers were, but I bet there's someone on here who was there and can tell us.
Anyway, enough reminiscence. Things are so dismal at the moment that it seems even the club are embarrassed by just how useless we are, and have decided not to bother promoting Football for a Fiver this weekend. Luckily, we've got a manager who is shrewd enough and cunning enough to identify the cause of all our problems. “A lot of managers can’t put their finger on what is wrong with their team. I can. I know exactly what is wrong and Tuesday just reaffirmed what I know" said Karl in his Thursday press conference. Unfortunately, he didn't say anything at all to suggest that he knows what to do about it, so I'm predicting another miserable debacle.
Charlton 0 - 2 Bury, attendance 13,500, actual attendance 9,200.
The famous, Ron Saunders scored a hat trick for CAFC that day with, I believe, Neil Ramsbottom, in goal for Bury.
It was only many years later when I moved up to Cheshire that I realised that the town of Ramsbottom is just north of Bury off the M66.
A mine of information me - makes great bedtime reading - guaranteed to help you sleep.

There are pessimists on here because we're so crap. If we bounce back today, it will be pointless saying 'shhh' to the pessimists because they'll be cheering as loudly as anyone else. Just because a pessimist expects us to lose, that doesn't mean they want us to.AddickFC81 said:So much pessimism on here. Actually, @ElfsborgAddick said it better with "wum".6 -

Back in the UK for this one.....and hoping that before I fly off again we can get a victory 2-1 addicks2

I wish I could feel more confident but I foresee the wheels coming off this weekend. 0-3 to BURY.0
-
I think it is going to go pear shaped today. Bury to get an early goal and then defend it for the rest of the game.0
-
The wheels have fallen off a bus that was already broken down.
Gobby is a joke.
Five quid is a rip off.

Too late mate, he made his excuses last night. My boy has decided to go paintballing and the Mrs is going to Bromley.AddicksAddict said:

What has happened to the appeal against Chris Solly's red card?0
-
1 - 1 Bauer sent off 80th minute.1
-
Thanks - another case of Gobby opening his mouth before engaging his brain, they were never going to be able to make a case that the referee had made a mistake in interpreting the rules. Not that I would agree with the interpretation - to miss 3 games for what Solly actually did is just not proportionate to the offence, especially while the Oxford player who fouled Solly beforehand has walked away with no penalty whatsoever. The law is yet again the proverbial ass.ross1 said:

Bury's disciplinary record is even worse than ours - but then Kettle is the referee so anything might happen.Horsfield9 said:1 - 1 Bauer sent off 80th minute.

Wonder who Karl will blame today he's done the ref thing. And he's done the players thing. Perhaps he will go full Pardew on us and blame the fans...
The excitement of it!!1 -
With Lee Clark in charge, whatever happens, Bury will come out unbeaten0
