IF there actually is a genuine 'business plan' of a football farm, see tomorrow's premiership stars at Charlton and all that nonsense, then there is a level below which we simply won't attract youngsters of sufficient quality to generate the income.

All season people have talked about the "top six budget" comment but has it been established what the "top six" actually referred to?
Was it top six in London? Doubt it - there are five PL teams (Chelski, Arse, Spuds, Wet Spam, Nigels) and then Fulham and QPR would have a bigger budget than us.
The division? Possibly.
A budget that ranked in the top six among Charlton managers under the interim owner? Bingo. And that's why we're heading to the bass-ment.0 -
Pretty sure it was top six in league one. We probably do have one of the largest budgets due to the ridiculous wages people like Text are on. Can't help expect next season to be worse than this if RD's still here. This summer we will again be uncompetitive in the transfer market, still be looking at cheap options, especially since there's not another Gomez or Lookman to sell. KR says he knows who he wants. He'll find that getting them is a different matter, assuming he hasn't been sacked. Loanees and freebies are what Roland will allow.0

Indeed. If we lose at Northampton on Saturday and Swindon beat Chesterfield (Ajose hat trick, no doubt), which is likely, we will be 3 points off relegation. Based on last 10 games, we are currently averaging 0.9 points per game. The average points per game total for the teams 22nd to 16th over the past 10 games is 1.45. I've left out Coventry and Chesterfield as with a 14 point deficit they won't catch us.
Based on current form we will finish the season on 52 points, with 21st place getting 50-51 points. KR was bang on when he said we need 3 more wins.
Only Gillingham, Port Vale, Chesterfield and Coventry picked up less points than us in the last 10 games, but Port Vale have only played 32 games and have 3 games in hand, so could yet get the points they need to survive.
Based on current form, and already of the opinion that it's too late for Chesterfield and Coventry, I believe that 2 of the following 4 will take up the last two relegation places:
Port Vale, Swindon, Gillingham or Charlton.
I think we'll finish in 20th position and survive by the skin of our teeth.0 -
If I were a bookie I wouldn't be offering anything like 40/1 let alone 80/1. Last 7 games has resulted in 3/21 points so what makes them (or us for that matter) think we can arrest that slide? It can only be our name (the old "they're too good to go down") that is keeping us from being shorter, the weight of money on the other contenders and the fact that there are a maximum of two relegation spots left to be decided. To put that 40/1 into perspective it is the equivalent of us as layer risking £400 to win a tenner on us staying up. How many of us would seriously do that right now?
