#UnityProtest in Sint-Truiden - Official Protest/'Match' Thread 3rd/4th March 2017

Lets use this thread to publish pix and videos and anecdotes of the weekend - no doubt this will be viewed many times and we will sit down and laugh at what happened (and no doubt a few tears too).
Looking forward to seeing you all in Sint Truiden
Anyway, as our mate Henry might have said..
"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Stiffen the sinews, follow your spirit, and upon this charge
God for Charlton, The Addicks, and Sint Truiden!"

You've cursed it now. Nothing CAFC related which is prefixed "Operation" ever ends well.34

All the very best to all of you in Belgium this weekend. I'm sorry I cannot be there.2
-
Good luck all.
Sadly logistics and family commitments prevent me from travelling but I'm looking forward far more to the updates from this thread than the match updates from Northampton...which tells it's own story about which is the most important CAFC related event this weekend imo.

Good luck. I couldn't make it but have sponsored someone. Enjoy, behave, and give Roland hell!5

I can't be there but kudos to those that are going. Go get him!!!!!!2
-
Good luck to all involved and well done to everyone involved in organising it.
I hope and pray that this will be a turning point in the struggle to rid our great club of this cancerous regime.5 - Sponsored links:

One thing I have learned in life - the only way you can guarantee not to succeed is not to try. That doesn't mean you suceed if you do of course, but you have to keep trying until you do. It won't be just those going, but all Charlton fans that have to fight for the future of their club in the way they best see fit. Those that are going will of course try to enjoy the day, but make no mistake, we are going out of a sense of duty.
I wish our fellow supporters well, travelling to Northampton. Hopefully they can cheer the team on to a vital victory. Hopefully it will be an important day in our history. Time will tell!13 -
Good luck and a safe journey to all those going.4

Flights sorted, train tickets sorted. Early start for me tomorrow. 5:50 am flight from Cork to Amsterdam, and then a train from Amsterdam to Brussels and then onto St. Truiden. I'll probably arrive a little after lunch giving me a little bit of time for a few beers and maybe a bit of a wander around the town before the protest. Hopefully I'll see some of you there.
As this is my first protest, any advice on whether fans usually wear colours at these events? I know there were protest shirts etc but as I don't have any of those t would wearing an old Charlton shirt from a better time be considered uncouth? I might have a black or white shirt from time gone past if that is considered preferable to red.37 -
Great effort el-pietro. I'd say older Charlton shirts are a good shout, if you haven't aquired a full protest wardrobe.2

I can't answer your question, but by God what an extraordinary effort. Very well done.el-pietro said:Flights sorted, train tickets sorted. Well done el-pietro fantastic effort. I will have a few protest shirts with me but only have Mens XS OR XL left. I do have Roland Out hoodies which I will have with me in all sizes. I'm on the overnight coach.2

I'm going out with friends for a few beers and a curry tonight then am on the 6.57am from St Pancras.
I fully expect to wake up every half an hour tonight having dreamt that I've slept through the alarm.9 -

Incredible effort El-Pietro I salute you.
Re clothing - wear what you like but there will no doubt be predominantly red and white worn.
We're all now in Belgium at varying locations some close to St Truiden and some with some kilometres still to do.
Weather so far is bright and no sign of rain5 - Sponsored links:

Don't give me too much credit, my company need me in Luxembourg on Tuesday and so I've managed to get them to pay for a flight to Amsterdam!
In all seriousness though, I don't get to many games, maybe 1 or 2 a season (and none since Chrissy Powell was sacked). I read and listen to everything I can about Charlton and over the past trhee years it has been clear to me that things are only going in one direction. If I can help play a small part in getting the club back on track then I'm happy to do it. Individual match results are nowhere near as important as how a club is being run, and it is obvious that Charlton is in as bad a state as I can remember it being in since the 80s.
I don't think (and correct me if I'm wrong) many fans expect Charlton to be a Premier League club. But a football club has to have ambition to improve itself. Otherwise, whats the point? Sure there is a social aspect to football, and all sports, but it is much more than that.
I went through a different but similar battle in Cork, where we fought to wrestle the club back from a dictatorial owner who didn't know what he was doing. We eventually took over the running of the club and 7 years later are back in Europe for the third straight season, we're fighting for the title for our fourth straight season, and won the F.A.I. Cup in December. If you had spoken to me in July 2009 or January 2010 I would have probably told you that I thought Cork City was going to die and would never come back, but now we're stronger then ever.
There may be clouds now, but the good times are still ahead, Charlton has been through worse and come back from it. It may take some more time, and we may not have seen the worst yet but better days are coming.45 -
Went to Bruges today - nice place but a bit rainy. Back in Brussels and all is well and feels warmer. Looking forward to heading to St Truiden tomorrow. What time are we expected to arrive?1

Two of us will leave Holland heading south tomorrow ,expect to see afew more dutch Charlton fans on the road too.Looking forward to this march and protest and we hope to rock Roland in his boots.
Both of us took part in the first protest back in Feb2016 things have moved on since then and this time with numbers and STVV fans as well Roland will not enjoy his weekend as much as us.LETS HOPE HE SELLS SOON.
Enjoy everyone do Charlton proud and stay within the law. The people of Sint Truiden deserve that.20 -

I can not express my envy of all those traveling for the protest tomorrow. As it has already been pointed out, this does have a feel of "something different" not felt since the playoff final.8
