Notes from the Fans Forum says "KM noted that the suggestion of an afternoon event was up for discussion and at this stage is just a proposal, and the club’s preference to attract more children to the event."

It would appear to be more lies from KM, nothing changes.

Daisy trying to bulldozer it through.

It must stay independent or the fans withdraw their work and support.
As well as their trophies. They are ours, not the club's.

The irony is that Jean is actually the current Supporter of the Year !

Does anything prevent us from voting for her two years running?

As far as I recall, it's not a supporter vote. But could be wrong.

To many, PoTY has always been a significant date in the calendar, a Charlton institution, one of our valued and resonant traditions. When player/fan relations are increasingly stage-managed or otherwise channelled through social media, events such as PoTY are pleasingly informal and on a human scale.

The remorseless churn of the roster every summer distances us from the players. Seasoned players who arrive seldom get the chance to become true legends - a week's exploits might make them temporary heroes but in the end they are mostly discarded as faded mercenaries. Young players who emerge through our wonderful youth system, if they survive the brutal process of that big step up, are served up far too soon as fresh meat to tempt the Prem palate. The rare opportunity to meet all the guys face-to-face is therefore a most welcome one.

Under the present owner fans have become disposable, coaches expendable and players mere merchandise. There was guarded criticism at the weekend of STVVers' alleged apathy - well, they have had 10 more years of occupation than we have, so can anyone look ahead to CAFC 2027 and honestly say that we would be much different ?

So, we must treasure what is still salvageable, honour our heritage, cherish our identity and never give up until better days are here. We owe nothing less to ourselves, to those who built the club before us, and to the future Addicks who will carry forward our legacy.

Conceding ANY ground on PoTY, and that includes all the accredited organisers, is one more step towards the ultimate demise of this special club. Its life's blood is steadily being replaced by pure poison, circulating through every artery. Awful times, for sure, but I can truly say there are no finer comrades-in-arms with which to share them. Never prouder to be an Addick - will NEVER be anything else.

    Brilliant stuff!

If nothing else, we know Daisy is telling the truth about learning from her mistakes. She can now use Powerpoint.

I'm sorry but I don't see the issue here. Do people really want to socialise with the crap players at our club? Aside from solly or Jackson, I could care less about anyone else.

Daisy wants to run it. Let her run it.

Fanny should tell em to stick it and set up a seperate event. Get some of the old boys down. Powell, brown, robinson etc. Beer, a few nibbles and a lot of laughs to get over another crap season. Sorted.

You do mean Johnny Robinson don't you?

    This is the knowledge I have in which to form an opinion. It's limited;

Fanny Fanakapan is a woman that annually organises the Charlton POTY do. She clearly has contacts and she successfully makes it happen every year.

From that, I gather that because she is not a club employee and does this off her own back but just hires the valley for its use, that the players are not necessarily obliged to turn up to the event, but they do it anyway as it's the right thing to do and they simply all want to be there.
There are extras too. Ex players.
Everyone has a laugh. The players have a good time. There's recognition. The fans meet their heroes.

It's usually always been a fun evening for everyone involved and people go home happy with stories to tell.

    It usually, really, means something.

Scrolling down the thread. There are comments to suggest that the club itself want to take over this event and add a few changes. Ok. Whatever.
    Pointless, but whatever.
We've known this regime for long enough to know they do weird pointless things because they are clueless and desperate and that they don't think ahead.

They also clearly do not give a crap about results on the pitch, so they, without thinking, stick their faces in this.
Something that doesn't need fixing or polishing up.

It then appears that the club specifically no longer wants Fanny (the original organiser of the event who everyone speaks highly of) to be involved with the event whatsoever.

    Whys that then?

It's because they don't feel in control of anything. They are weak.

My advice, which may not mean anything as I don't know all the details, but what I will say, Fanny, if you are reading.

Don't get angry. Just see it for what it is.
A child. A bafoon. One that is rather confused hurt and angry that her ambition of self promotion is so conflicted and screwed up, she has to sink to this level.

Let them have it, completely back off say, ok then and give yourself a break.

It will probably further embarrass Meire when the exact details of this child like behaviour is made public.

The amount of times this woman shoots herself in the foot is really bizarre.

The club attempting to organise a POTY do their way. How cringeworthy it will be. How desperate it will be.
How un-Charlton Athletic it will be.

We have garunteed comedy at our disposal.

It will be awful and could be made a lot worse for them.

    If you get my drift.

This is just because @fannyfanackapan is a known protestor and subversive. The woman is a known liar. She said only the other day on here that she was 68 for goodness sake! Absolute tosh. I've met her and she's not a day over 50!!!!!

Will there be time for Roland's dancing after the game?

Don't know the background to this, but surely anyone with half a brain and experience of managing people would understand that if you wish to change a process then the best way is to consult with those directly involved first, get them on your side, then communicate a joint vision.

From all of your comments this appears to have gone down the "I know best" I'll just dictate route. If it has then the only outcome will be to piss off all those who have dedicated time to organising this in the past and make it less likely to succeed.

What a self absorbed arse hole. Can't wait for the time she's begging clubs for a job, because I promise, NO ONE WILL EVER, EVER HIRE YOU KATRIEN once we rid you and your cronies.

We can always run our own one - we have the trophies. If the players don't show up - well they haven't shown up in too many games either this season. We can just send Ricky Holmes and Konsa or Aribo their trophies in the post!

I can't quite believe what I'm reading here, you could't make this stuff up.
Anyone who has met Fanny will know she has Charlton running through her veins, although this is probably the exact reason why they want her to have nothing to do with it.

It all seems a bit petty and vindictive really from Katrien, I guess she's showing her immaturity and true colours, the sooner this scum are out of our club the better, they have absolutely no idea how to run a successful football club.

It all sounds wrong to me.

Whether it happens differently at other clubs or not, the POTY awards at Charlton are a fan organised event, with the club allowing the players to attend because it's in everyone's best interests.

Changes to a successful format are always going to be given a degree of scrutiny. Unnecessary changes that appear to have a petulant element to them are likely to go down very badly, I am sure there will be some sort of negative repercussion.

Oh dear Katrien. Roland bought the wrong club and now you're trying to exclude the wrong person. You really are incompetent.
  • I suggest the answer is in our hands. If JH is not allowed to be part of it, or they try to manipulate it to their favour, then we boycott it.

Surely, this is something we can all boycott?

What a nasty, petulant child she is! PR have kept her muzzled for a while so she hits out like this! Oh dear, how silly you look KM.

She's been sniffing around the POTY do for a while. This statement doesn't surprise me in the least.

    Pathetic. Again.

Has anyone just heard KM on the sports spot on Radio 4 Todays programme. Talking about building inclusion for women from top down and bottom up. Really wound me up based on this thread, and her clear aim of hijacking International Womens day for her own aims.

I suppose that having it after the last game means getting all the loanees to go. They won't be very interested in the spirit of the occasion anyway. KM is getting all the flak here but I smell a rat behind it all. Just a hunch.

If there are protests during or after the last game then the club could use it as a tool against CARD et al when they have to cancel to POTY event. Maybe too much the conspiracy theorist in me but that must have come into their thinking.
  • The PR speaks for itself, reigning supporter of the year that has been organising the event very successfully from the beginning is excluded without explanation.

Be surprised if this is allowed to slip through if we really are paying two sets of professional communications people.

@Fanny Fanackapan, I don't know you, but well done for maintaining a perfectly dignified silence, and thank you for your hard work and dedication with this event and all things CAFC.

I am convinced that when she finally leaves she will get a bigger job due to the fact she is a women.

How ever inept she is at her job she will always be defended by people who just want to praise because of her gender.
