112 years down the Swanee thanks to an inappropriate crackpot owner.

Francesco Becchetti has ruined this club in 30 months flat. The football authorities are unable or unwilling to act against an owner so palpably unfit to run a club.

Five managers this season, loaded with debt, and now almost impossible to sell. What a mess - and far, far too close to home.

And the FL do fuck all about it apart from trying to claim their medical costs from the trust. Disgusting.

Absolute cop out of a statement. Those running the game in this country are only slightly more competent than these terrible owners. Unfortunately it'll only get worse before anything happens and it'll probably take a big club to go out of business before anyone looks at it.

"The role of the EFL is one of a competition organiser and the management of clubs is a matter for their Directors, as long as their conduct is not in breach of any of our Regulations."

Unfortunately 'EFL' that is exactly the sort of mindset that could see you without much of a competition to organise in a few year's time. What's happening at Leyton Orient may well turn out to be the tip of a very unpleasant iceberg. There are a number of owners whose incompetence is running their clubs into the ground. The overarching financial imperetive means that even clubs with decent owners are destined to make a loss unless they can escape your league. The younger generation of football fans are increasingly disconnected from their local clubs preferring to follow (from a distance, of course) bigger Premiership and even Champions League teams. Still, don't let any of that worry you. You've got a nice new logo and a snappy TLA so everything will be alright. You just keep sticking your heads in the sand and organising competitions without any concern for the husbandry of the participants. Crisis, what crisis?

  • Looks awful for them, hopefully they get the new owner a club with their rich tradition deserves.
