What's the latest on the redevelopment of the Training Ground?

There's a protest coming on Sunday and the club runs the training ground story again.

I hadn't realised how far they had scaled back the built CACT facilities from the plans they publicised in 2015, which in turn were scaled back from the 2014 scheme, when the community was integral to the project. Instead of a new build, it's now no more than an extension and refurbishment of the previous disaster at the back of the site.
Also a planning application is in to use the University of Greenwich Dome for two more years.0 -
So after three years they got a few earth movers in on Monday to get the levels correct and a grader so they don't have to go to the expense of importing topsoil to the site.
The drone shots show about three days work for four guys yet not a single sign of the "600m" trench.
This must be the commencement of phase III. By my rough calculations our shiny new training ground should be complete by phase CXXIV in 2028.8 -
I have no doubt that the new access road, 3G pitches and extension to the Community Trust builying are all worthwhile but it''s taken years of repeat sight-lowering to arrive here and it looks very much like they are desperately trying to put some glitter on it. Remember this is what gets trotted out at every transfer window to justify their lack of ambition around the first-team.4

I was round there yesterday - lots of tractors and mounds of soil, and an enormous great pit at the back which might be the 600-metre trench.0

I'd rather they did nothing on this to be honest. If the plans are continuously scaled back and completed half arse it might prevent it from being done properly in the future.
If at some point down the line we had a new ownership and SMT and we're actually in the top half of the championship with real premier league ambition then the owners might want to go fully state of the art. Half arseing it now might cause more problems down the line....10 -
Are we sure they aren't laying new gas and water pipes in anticipation of the new housing estate to be built on the site?1

some great shots of tractors and small mounds of soil.
I wonder what Footscray rugby club are putting in for the development? seems unfair that Roland has to stump up all the cash.1 -

Willy wonka could make electa-choc and feed it to Corbyn for years and unfortunately it would not make Corbyn electable.1

So this is Phase II and not Phase III.HardyAddick said:

I must say I have been a huge doubter, but at last there is something to be pleased about. It stays in South London so that's got to be a good thing.0
-
Invest properly in the 1st team as well and everyone will be happy. A top of the range training complex is pointless with a bottom of the range 1st team.8

Um, ar.0

I thought we were overdue a meaningless training ground update.1

Unfair. He's a groundsman and explained what was happening very well imho.dickplumb said:Um, ar.

I was at the training ground last night, there's certainly a lot going on with lots of holes and pipework, lots of grass dug up and sand everywhere.
My limited understanding is 2x 3G training pitches are going in, one of which is for the rugby club and a new drainage system.
I don't think it includes any new buildings yet, it's all pitch related.1
