Focus more on Orient and the Football League but Duchatelet gets a mention as you would expect when discussing incompetent owners

"Disreputable owners are nothing new, but never before has it felt that so much damage is being caused by so much crass decision-making across so many clubs. Futures are being threatened not by insolvency, as often the case in the past, but, in many cases, incompetence".

And yet, still the EFL distance themselves from the problem: "All we can do, as a competition organiser, is to try to work with those owners on areas of best practice and pass on experience".

    Absolutely useless.

As "competition organiser" they should be trying to ensure the long term future of its competition and clubs. To ensure there is adequate corporate governance in place that complies with a certain code of conduct shouldn't be beyond them.

Is that a Spitting Image puppet?

As for the Football League or whatever silly name they are now using..... They are simply not fit for purpose.

The EFL has an owners and directors test, but Becchetti passed it, as did Sisu, as did Roland Duchâtelet at Charlton, with no hint of the problems to come.

“Until they’ve run the club for a period of time, there’s no way of telling whether they’re going to do it well or otherwise,” Harvey says.

But, if they'd done their research and had adequate rules, RD had a history of putting personal gain above the welfare of Sint Truiden and Standard Liege before he descended on Charlton.
