Absolutely. Just where did he think he was putting it? The best that could have hoped for out of that was a stray ball bouncing around the penalty box that he couldn't possibly deal with because he'd have his back to it. Sam Lawrie's wasn't bad when he nutmegged reserve keeper Frank Reed from the kick off v Plymouth with a pass back in the early sixties to gift the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Think we won it 6-4 in the end having lost by the same score to the Pilgrims a few days earlier.0 -

Jim tolmie i think his name was. Carlisle v Charlton in our promotion season of 81. Scored from the half way line. Had all day to do anything he wanted with it. We were 2-0 down at the time, went on to win 3-2 and promotion.0
