Love those Swords... Where are they from?

    The Museum!

    : - )

The red one was liberated from the old main gates. They actually screwed on to the top of the gates and there is a thread inside. Original patina. Quite a few found their way into private hands : - )

The brass one we don't know. It was on display in one of the lounges before it came to us. It looks very similar but not identical and so maybe was on display elsewhere at the club before 1985. It was already on the base when we acquired it.

I'd imagine that the one on the left was designed for indoor use. I don't think anyone would want to put a fine brass like that outside. I suspect that base isn't original though as it isn't central to the sword.

Busy day at the museum meeting @Big in Brasov and getting some really good items from him including the Valley Action Group flyer and a ticket from the 1969 FA Cup tie at Arsenal.

Also a museum archivist doing his masters in museum heritage interview us on independent museums and fan contributions.

We had a letter asking us if some London Combination games in 1944 actually took place or were cancelled. (we don't know but we'll look it up) and we got a lot of videos. We had some unlabelled blank videos from @northstandsteve which we hoped were rare Charlton footage but turned out to be episodes of Who wants to be a millionaire and Casualty. Could have been worse and been porn ; - ) The Charlton videos are now with the club who are digitising them for there archive.

    Thanks again for everyone's support.

We got a lot of other new items some of which I'll post up here

Love that Slater had Powell as his manager almost the whole time, thats what you get with quality and stability

It's almost funny looking at the manager section under Duchatelet
  • First visit to the museum today, and what a great way to spend an hour or three..

Have to say a big thanks to all those who freely give their time and energy in order to provide and maintain such a fantastic facility, as well as those who've donated a great range of memorabilia for us all to enjoy.
