Thought the interview was a good move by Robinson but if the weekend ends with no news at all I don't think it'll go down well and will lose him some of the credit he may have gained in doing it.2

Yes i think his interview technique is improving he doesn't seem to be as manic as he was.cafc_harry said:Thought the interview was a good move by Robinson but if the weekend ends with no news at all I don't think it'll go down well and will lose him some of the credit he may have gained in doing it.
I just wish he would stop promising things that don't materialise it makes him look silly0 -
He said "might be"2

Any news ? Da Silva, that MK Dons midfielder (this seasons Andy Delort) who should have signed by now if he was going to ? Any plan B to that MKD Dons player not happening ? or Holmes contract improvement ?
Some improvements in the team, Is there a sign of a a balanced squad yet ? Or is the team going to be 3 to 4 players short as per normal Duchatelet ?0 -
That is almost completely irrelevant to be honest. If it isn't as good as done just don't say it, just makes him sound stupid when it doesn't come off.ShootersHillGuru said:He said "might be"

No. Wrong. He implied that something "MIGHT" happen.blackpool72 said:

I heard yesterday that da Silva is likely provided we meet Chelsea's terms.
We are talking a loan for the season.0 -
Well I've listened to his interview several times and I think he thought something was going to happen.ShootersHillGuru said:

You obviously interpret it different so lets just agree to disagree: )0 -
Why is it irrelevant? Might be means it might happen or it might not happen at the weekend. It doesn't make him look stupid at all because he said might be. If he said definitely I might agree with you.cafc_harry said:

In terms of public image I think it's irrelevant, 9/10 fans will take it as there should be news coming and if it doesn't then he's an idiot again. I get that sometimes it doesn't work out in certain timescales but I've already seen people criticising him over it on Facebook and Twitter.dickplumb said:

Robinson is the latest custodian and he may do well. I would rather him than prickly Slade. The issue is Meire and Duchatelet.4

This regime do this over and over - "Lookman will definitely not be sold in Jan" was my personal favourite.cafc_harry said:

Keep your mouth shut unless you can guarantee what your saying will happen.6 -
'Hopefully 1 or 2 things can excite fans over the weekend' is the exact quote. Even more direct than I thought, sounds more like things will happen, hopefully fans will excite them rather than hopefully it'll happen full stop.4

Da Silva starts for England U19 tonight.1

Well if we do sign him on loan at least we know he will be match fit.cafc_harry said:Da Silva starts for England U19 tonight.

Yes, seen that. People saying "where are the two players he PROMISED"cafc_harry said:

He didn't promise and it's Tarbuck.
There is a reason why sensible people say "when it's on the OS"2 -

agreed completely, but if Robinson wants to be liked (which I definitely think he does) then he doesn't need to say anything which will make him look stupid.seth plum said:Robinson is the latest custodian and he may do well. I would rather him than prickly Slade. The issue is Meire and Duchatelet.
How many people come out and say something might happen, it's completely pointless. No need to say anything unless he was confident it would happen.2 - Sponsored links:

Or the alternative view. By saying it shows that they are working hard to get stuff done even when he's been running this training camp. Had he not said anything the same people who are criticising would be moaning that he hasn't said anything and is doing nothing to bring people in.1

Most clubs just sign players and that's that. The fact he needs to comment shows the compensating he's doing for the clubs general incompetence.colthe3rd said:Or the alternative view. I think @Ollywozere promised that there'd be a couple of pictures of classic rolling stock on the website over the weekend...cafc_harry said:'Hopefully 1 or 2 things can excite fans over the weekend' is the exact quote. As he has himself said doing all the talking for the accident prone Miere and so the whole club is part of his role.cafc_harry said:

Meire wanted him to talk and boy did he talk. Part of his value to Meire is to take the flak off her by talking the club up non-stop.
Transfers are moving slower than he hoped but he has to keep up the positive vibe he is paid to create and which is a big part of his ethos as a manager and coach.
But in this case he didn't promise but some people live in such instant gratification bubble that nothing but deals NOW is enough and any delay is seen as a betrayal.
Yes, he partially made that rod for his own back last season and with that interview but the over reaction from some on Facebook and Twitter is just laughable.
Deals get done when they get done and that is the beginning and end of it.

I didn't hear KR say it would be a signing that would excite fans, he might have been taking about the revealing of kit for the friendlies next week.
It's not his fault the kit didn't generate much excitement...............0 -
I reckon KR just took a look at the weather forecast and thought we'd all be happy with a BBQ and some beers whilst sunning ourselves in the glorious British summer.0
-
Micheal Boswick likes a goal or two as well
I wouldn't! Need a prolific striker really! But is there one out there?cantersaddick said:Said the below on the squad list thread a few days ago.
Goalkeepers
Dillon Phillips 2018
need one in
Right Backs
Chris Solly 2020
probably need one although Barnes seems to be considered part of the squad
Centre Backs
Harry Lennon 2018
Patrick Bauer 2019
Jason Pearce 2020 - Contract extension from 2019
Ezri Konsa 2020
Jorge Teixeira 2020
Naby Sarr 2020
We have enough here although can see Tex and or Bauer leaving in which case they need replacing. Lose Sarr
Left Backs
Lewis Page 2019
Need one minimum where's Chicksen?
Central Midfielders
Andrew Crofts 2018
Johnnie Jackson 2018 (Player/First Team Coach)
Ahmed Kashi 2018
Joe Aribo 2019
Jake Forster-Caskey 2019
depending on how Kashi is viewed within the squad and whether he is around this year we may have enough. 1 more needed of Kashi isn't there.
Wide Midfielders
Ricky Holmes 2018
Cristian Ceballos 2018
Mark Marshall 2019 - Signed from Bradford City as free agent
Terique Fosu 2019 - Signed from Reading for undisclosed fee
pretty happy with this. Personally I'd lose Ceballos and sign Stewart
Number 10/CAM
Billy Clarke 2019 - Signed from Bradford City for undisclosed fee
Need one more (ease be Reeves)
Strikers
Josh Magennis 2018
Tony Watt 2018
Lee Novak 2019
Karlan Ahearne-Grant 2019
Nicky Ajose 2019
Igor Vetokele 2019 - Loaned to STVV for 2017/8 season
Unsure on this one. On the face of it we have numbers but only really Magennis and Novak fit KR's system. I reckon KAG will be used more out wide in that system. So can only teally justify one squad place for Watt or Ajose if a different system is favoured.
So I make that:
GK (Martin?)
Rb (if Barnes not ready, isn't Wilson available?)
Lb (maybe 2, Dasilva, is Edwards ready?)
CB if Tex or Bauer leave
CM if Kashi not ready or not around
Winger (Stewart)
No 10 (Please Reeves)
Striker (and lose one of Ajose/Watt)
Dumbing down my expectations because time is getting on and there seems to be a distinct lack of activity I reckon we need:
Gk
LB
Winger
10
Reckon Barnes and Konsaa will be rb cover, seems like Bauer and Tex will be here until their contracts run down. They're making a lot of Kashi so I assume he will be here.
Mavididi would be a good acquisition as he played mostly his games for us out wide last year but he could be 3rd choice for the lone striker role in the 4231 behind Magennis and Novak. As I think Watt/Ajose will be used as impact subs or if we want to change formation.
I'd be very happy with
Martin
DaSilva
Stewart (or another)
Reeves
