Not unless, he is heading for Brighton and not Bury..cabbles said:
Perhaps he's got a touch of the old dale Stephens southitisCyrilDavies said:Maybe he has not settled in the south?. Could that be part of the problem?.
No doubt, Henry will know the answer.0 -
So an agent got the figure wrong?Covered_End_Lad said:
I don't think he meant a release clause per se, just that it would be enough to secure him.sam3110 said:The whole point of a release fee is you don't have to pay higher than that, so that's clearly bullshit

The 'facts' are a bit loose but as you say, everyone is happy, so all is well that ends well.Swisdom said:They offered £600k for Holmes. Karl insisted to the board he was not for sale and they respected his wishes.
The fact is he wanted to stay, we wanted him to stay and he stayed. Everyone is happy2 -
Must've locked Duchatelet in a laundry basket tied in duct tape to get away with that one. Loves the wonga does our Roland.Swisdom said:They offered £600k for Holmes. Karl insisted to the board he was not for sale and they respected his wishes.

In theory it is madness to reject £600k for a 30 year old in L1 - but we did because that's what everyone knows is best3
-
Its not madness if he is your best player33

Precisely. Karl said he was essential and rest is history.AFKABartram said:Its not madness if he is your best player

The crucial factor in RH staying was RH wanting to stay. Whether that's through loyalty, a really good contract or inertia is irrelevant. Now seems unlikely SheffU offered him a big enough raise for him to consider uprooting again. At 30 a good contract would be a serious issue, this will most likely be his last chance to help secure his financial future. If he has a tough time in a poor team bumping along the bottom of the division, he and his agent will be reopening lines of communication to Sheffield around December time. If Wilder's still in post the chances of bids resurfacing would be good. roly's valuations of players are his own and faces that don't fit find themselves getting maneouvred to god knows where (CS, MM)
It's definitely good news that RH is staying, for now. I doubt that more than one of the gaping holes in the squad will be filled by 31 August, let alone 4 August.

Unfortunately, this is the sort of thing that I can imagine the current ownership to consider (but only because it'd be a bit incompetent).grumpyaddick said:Sell Novak and buy the entire University of Dublin first team.
We lost to University College Dublin, part of NUI. The University of Dublin would be Trinity College Dublin, and they would be a bit shite, by comparison.2 -
"Oldham Athletic (loan)[edit]
On 9 July 2016, Erwin signed for Oldham Athletic on a season-long loan.[30][31] He scored his first goal for Oldham in a 3–2 loss against Shrewsbury Town on 3 September 2016.[32]
In 40 Appearances in all competitions for Oldham Athletic during the 2016/17 season, Erwin scored 10 goals (8 in the league). With Erwin finishing the clubs Top Goalscorer for the season.[33]"

I agree but not sure many clubs in L1 could reject so maybe. As someone else said, the tide has turnedDazzler21 said:

Think @golfaddick was suggesting that we sign him up as a player...Leuth said:"Oh hey, [current Charlton goalie coach], sorry but you're sacked, one of our playing legends became available and someone on a messageboard said we should 'go get him' - I'm sure you understand"

I wanted to go to Spain on holiday, CARD told me it was s*** so I went to Italy instead.Redmidland said:C'mon lads/lassies, lets not get into CARD this and CARD that!! Everyone can make up their own minds as to what they think and then post on the relevant thread!!
This is the transfer rumours thread, I log in to see what, if any, transfer rumours there are only to be confronted with completely irrelevant stuff. Any chance you can take your discussion off here?

I'll drive him there myself & even pay for a meal on the way up too. Wont get more than half a dozen goals this season & not very good imo.iamdan said:Novak to Bury..
As for Henry - Oxford is a lot closer to Reading than SE7 or SE9 (training ground) & we already have enough wingers & again, imo, Stewart is better. Also, he's ex 'wall.0 -
Novak out, Erwin in? He'd definitely be more suited to the target man role.7
