Pub quality was severely lacking on the tram tour. Only the Jolly Woodman, Beckenham and the Trafalgar Freehouse, Wimbledon were decent. Of the rest there was one average 'spoons and a string of decidedly downmarket backstreet boozers.

Now thinking of doing the Bemondsey Beer Mile. Anyone done this?

Know a few people that have done it. Messy is the word that comes up frequently.

I believe @Charlton Charlie is your man for this one.

This is a Mexican brew I had in the Slug n Lettuce in Beckenham yesterday, quite dry but tasty.

I did this with some mates a few months ago. It's great fun. Get the train to South Bermondsey and start that way (or you end up in bandit country late at night and very pissed). The first one is Four Pure, then you pretty much follow the tracks up to London Bridge, you can find a map if you google it. All the breweries were busy, all great places to drink, and the beer is excellent. I thoroughly recommend, and we'll definitely do it again!

And yes, it is messy

P.S. we purposely picked a Saturday that Millsmall were away...

Aldi have got a sale on on quite a few different ales. All at 1.29 a bottle. 500ml bottles that is.
  • @Stig - it took me 3 days to get over the last time I did the Beer Mile.... I'm doing it again on the 24th June....just make sure you pace yourself and stick to the thirds/halves...if you start on pints you're asking for trouble....

    How many pubs are there?
  • @Stig

Next time you are in the Jolly Woodman let me know, as I work there!

And if I'm not working there I'm either getting pissed there, or in it's sister pub next door!

Had an Innis and gun rum finish, and a Brewdog that had been kept in a whisky barrel and was 15%. Both were awful. The Brewdog one was like a can at a party someone had dropped a cigar butt in

That's funny, I just came on here to ask about some British beers now being offered by our excellent local home delivery operator, and they had Innis & Gunn which I had never heard of so I thought I would swerve them.

However they had two IPAs from well known names, which I have ordered : Fullers, and Shepherd Neame. Any experience anyone?
I know some people are sniffy about SN, but I really like Bishops Finger so I am hopeful. The shop also offers Maisel's IPA from Germany (which I already know and like) so it's an opportunity to compare the UK and continental styles of IPA.

Innis and gunn some decent stuff, but I think my palate was shot after the Islay Brewdog!
  • Days off work, so I thought I'd go buy some beer from Tree House Brewing in Charlton (Massachusetts). 1.45pm, and this is the line. It was longer when I left.

I had this beer last weekend.
Most likely the worst beer I've ever tried (mind you, haven't tried Tetley Super or Carlsberg Special Brew).
    Excruciatingly painful to drink.

Good afternoon yesterday. Brentwood Chocwork Orange Stout was the best beer I had.

Absolutely love Chockwork Orange. They make a bottled version, it's not easy to get hold of though unless you pay them a visit.

Was really nice - everyone in our group went to get one after my recommendation and a taster!

I, on the other hand, am sitting in the sun in a pub garden enjoying a straight up Ghost Ship. Can't go wrong with that...

I have bought a case of ghost ship from Waitrose today who have it at £1.35 for 500ml.
Got one or two others but Ghost Ship is beautifully bitter and easily my favourite.
I find lots of beers woefully under-hopped, but this one is a stand out.

We went in the Railway up Blackheath on Friday...they do 4/5 different beers from Sierra Nevada...tried a couple one was a tad to citrusy but the second one I had (at 6.2%) was nicer....can't recall it's name....be wary though one of them is 7.5%...ask the person behind the bar as the strength isn't on the beer tap.

Sorry if its already been posted, but this is a work of genius.
The shortest distance to visit every pub in Britain.
You can zoom in to plan your local ones, back when there were over 27,000 pubs.

Currently drinking Thornbridge's 'Cocoa Wonderland'. I wouldn't normally post what beer I'm drinking but it's bloody lovely, sort of a strong, fizzy mocha. Bought it in Waitrose.

Thornbridge's 'Tart' is also great, it's a sour, citrus ale. Tesco sell it.
