Only need one more gold to overtake us in the medal table.

Aussies and Gerrys still behind us, though.

So if we finish fourth this time round, what's the target for 2012???

The target was 4th, so I think they'll stay with that

But Rothko, a target is meant to be about doing better, not styaing the same ;-)

Well they'll probably go for a target like, more then 20 golds and 50 medals in total, which should be gettable

Thank goodness for the Aussies doing the pesky Ruskies in the pole vault.

Agreed, WSS. And the Americans knocked the Russians out in the semi-final of the volleyball too.

Is there anywhere you can see what events are still left and who the favourites to win are?

depends if you rank it by Golds or medals overall, see link. No-one actually 'wins' the Olmpics though do they, not as if you go to the next one defending your crown. Personally, I think their should be a score allocated say 10 Gold, 6 Silver, 3 Bronze and therefore an overall winner.

Thanks, Large - we might do well to finish fourth as we're not in contention for many more golds, are we?

Two more kayaking events (men and women) and one of them is the same guy who won today.

    Maybe the 4x400 men/women if we're lucky?

James DeGale has a chance in the boxing.

So 5 more if we're very lucky, but more likely 1 or 2.

We aimed for 41 medals and top 8, so we're on to better that.
  • It's a whole lot better than the Olympics (not sure if it was Atlanta or Sydney) where we only got one Gold!!

got chance of gold in the boxing with Degale

as long as the aussies don't beat us I don't care. Been giving it large to some crims at work.
  • Atlanta was just one gold - Redgrave and the rowing four naturally!
  • We have a good chance of a boxing gold and in the men's 4x400m.

Very much doubt we'll win the men's 4 x 400m - although the women's team should hopefully get a medal - and DeGale is up against a Cuban in the final, which is generally bad news.
