    Actually the truth be known, I've been offered an advanced driving course, which I've accepted.

    So, only £97 squid and no more points on me license.

    The best way to view it is that you are paying £97 to make yourself a better driver. Whether true or not, will ensure you don't feel so bad about it. I suppose avoiding points does a lot of that already.
