Tunes at the Valley...
Thought it could be fun to share some music that remind us of going to the football, what with the new season around the corner.
To start off, here's a couple of ones from the late 90s that remind me of when I first started going to matches...

This ought to remind fans of every game played at the Valley from 1971 to about 1980

Not a tune from the Valley, but a tune from when I started going regularly...at Upton Park! I remember this being played while standing on the North Bank there

D-Ream's "things can only get better".
Enjoyed by the Charlton throng at halftime of the FACup quarter final match at Old Trafford 1994, Schmeichel had been despatched for his assault on Kim Grant and the score stood at 0 - 0 despite an entirely one sided 45 minutes. We all figured that, down to 10 men, the mancs would be lesser opponents for the 2nd 45 and 10,000+ happy Addicks sang along in cheerful optimism for what was to follow. Andre Kanchelskis, in particular, had other ideas and Charlton were subjected to a skillful and relentless footballing lesson, ending in a 3 -1 home win. We none of us cared one bit, we hadn't gone to OT with any realistic ambitions, Charlton's record there remains dismal. More Addicks went to that game than could even fit in the Valley at the time. I'd never seen that many Addicks in one place at one time before then and wouldn't again for another year or so. I've never seen that many Addicks travelling to and from a game, on the roads, in cars, vans, coaches, at service stations en route. Charlton Athletic at the time was brimming with optimism and conviviality and those 3 minutes in the interval stick firmly, brightly and loudly in this Addick's memory. Not even Tony B. Liar's misappropriation of that song for Labour's 97 election campaign tarnishes it for me.
The team that day I think was Vaughn, Brown, Minto, Balmer, McCleary, Pitcher, Pardew, Robson, Nelson, Grant & Leaburn.10 -
I went on a charter train, proppa Charlton! But yes that song will always being back the 15 minutes of half time...StigThundercock said:D-Ream's "things can only get better".

Does anyone know the name of the song they play before matches that has the refrain "still believe" or something like that? Been bothering me for ages now I have no clue what it is.0

Does anyone remember that Charlton mash up they played once? It had the Clash, The skids and loads of Dalek's voices saying "come on charlton" I heard it once and everyone started laughing, never heard it again.0

Don't know if it was ever played at the Valley specifically but this one seems to be played at most grounds during the mid nineties so always puts me in mind of going to away games at least.
