I noticed recently that he was still without a club. Even at 35 I think he would be decent at this level.EdgeleyAddick said:Rickie Lambert unattached. Worth a punt on a one year deal or is he past it at 35?
Knows league one inside out and no doubt would understand very well how to play at the top of a 4-2-3-1.

I'm pretty sure we do. Dresden didn't scout Mavididi, Fosu or DasilvaElfsborgAddick said:

The whole Tarpey thing has benn dreamed up on twitter based on a comment on here.
Lambert is a good shout as someone who knows the system we play and his scouseness might work for Robbo too.
We are far too light up top though - at least 1 body is needed immediately - Grigg will do for me

Are Wigan not playing Grigg?
Either way there's no chance RD will pay the sort of fee they'd want for him.0 -
Nah, nothing wrong at all at Charlton these last three and a half years!RugbyAddick said:If we are actually going in for the lad from Maidenhead as a key signing then something's wrong.

But football has a history of successful 'unlikely' signings. JS made quite a few, and players like Ian Wright, Charlie Austin and Vardy would be other good examples. I wouldn't rule someone out because they play for a lower division club.RugbyAddick said:If we are actually going in for the lad from Maidenhead as a key signing then something's wrong. Having said that, I haven't seen the lad play...5 -
Can't wait for Robinson to say we were in for Tarpey but unfortunately got beaten to the deal by Morecambe who offered him an extra £7 a week8

4231 is a hideously rigid wkings hill addick said:I know there has been criticism of the owners for a long time now and, probably, rightly so but with every change in manager there is a kind of 'start again' in each window.
In January Robinson said that we just missed out at the end of the window and that he was going to start on the summer signings straight away. What that does mean is that there is no justification for us not having what those making the decisions want on 1st September. So I think we have to assume that the squad will be, exactly, what RD and/or KM want it to be in a fortnight.
Ignoring injuries and suspensions (and I might have a small amount of sympathy with Marshall) there will be no hiding place if this season doesn't bring promotion - or, at least, get very close.
They have had six months to build this squad and with no change of manager and a fixed style of playing (4-2-3-1) if we fall short it will be because that is what they want to have happened. It won't be a mistake that they can learn from it will be an indication of what they want for our club and there can be no 'second chances' for them.
I know people have been saying this for months and months but there is, literally, nothing they can hide behind this time.
I think this system needs mobility. If we signed somebody like him, I'd advocate a switch to 442 ( I'd actually support this anyway). I know it's not going to happen as it would render Reeves redundant but a goal scorer alongside magennis in a 442 with a midfield of Fosu/Marshall/Clarke, Caskey, Kashi and Holmes could be very livelyGreenhitheRed said:

if and thats IF its true we only have 300k in the kitty the manager knows nearly every player in the leagues and conferance that can do a job for us is out of our price range, that includes loan signings from Prem clubs which also demand a fee.
Sad thing is even 10% of the Lookman money could have really done damage.
Just a thought ,why not get rid of the PR machine and give the money allocated to the manager.5 -

Certainly one to keep an eye on.Valley11 said:The new Steve Portway?
Being from Gravesend, Steve Portway is still the best non league striker I've ever seen. Shame his big move never materialised. Even after his injury, he was better with 1 eye than any other striker I've seen at that level with 2

Steve Gallen is Head of Recruitment, with loads of experience and well respected within the game!0 -
If he was at that game (Which I have serious doubts about) why would it be Tarpey he was looking at. It might have been Danny Rowe of Fylde who scored 50 plus goals for them last season.Covered End said:The game was at Fylde. A long way for KR to go, so if he was there he must be serious.
I will give it an hour ;-)3 -
Which goals are better? National League South or NAtional League North?shirty5 said:

I heard we were in for Danny Rowe of Fylde..................

I doubt he was there for one second, but didn't want to get grief from anyone saying how did I know for sure.ShootersHillGuru said:Covered End said:The game was at Fylde. A long way for KR to go, so if he was there he must be serious.
Of course he wasn't there.1 -
so weve gone from will grigg to dave tarpey.6

Fans are so fickle, we'll put 4 past Northampton at the weekend and then we'll be praising the the flexibility of the 4-2-3-1 formation and the goal scoring talents of Holmes, Reeves and Fosu!
We've lost Ajose, Watt and Igor, none of them were up for it for different reasons. We have Novak and Mag fighting for one spot, unfortunately one isn't fully fit and one stupidly got himself a 3 match ban. We still have a couple of weeks to get another body in to provide further options which I'm sure we will, in the mean time just relax and enjoy the ride!9 -
My best mate has a season ticket for maidenhead and said tubby is worth a punt. Having seen colin attached to the rumour it's definitely fake news.0

Charlton will not sign free agent Cameron Stewart, News Shopper understands.
Stewart, 26, was on trial with the Addicks earlier this summer, and impressed in most of his games.
The winger left the club before the start of the season, with Charlton boss Karl Robinson refusing to rule out a future deal.
But News Shopper has been told that Stewart was an alternative to Ben Reeves if the MK Dons playmaker did not join the club.1 -
Remember him well. Played central striker for Welling and Millwall played him wide. I believe that didn't suit him an the goals dried up. Why buy a plumber and ask him to lay bricks.SomervilleAddick said:
If we've got money to risk, no problem, but this can't be our plan. Anyone here remember John Bartley. More goals than games played in his career, but only 8 in 40 for Millwall over two seasons. Went back to non-league, and back to almost a goal a game pace until he retired.cafc_harry said:

Jesus these stats can't be real can they? - They look mental!! i.e. 70-goals over two seasons for Maidstone and Welling at one stage!!RaplhMilne said:

Probably the right call and you got that impression at the time. But with Marshall out for a while I would be tempted to give him a deal until Jan to give us cover.ross1 said:Charlton will not sign free agent Cameron Stewart, News Shopper understands.

He was on trial at Oldham afterwards. I understand they turned him down as well.cantersaddick said:

I don't object to Tom posting on his way to work but "relax enjoy the ride" ? Really?Themightyath2 said:Fans are so fickle, we'll put 4 past Northampton at the weekend and then we'll be praising the the flexibility of the 4-2-3-1 formation and the goal scoring talents of Holmes, Reeves and Fosu!

This three year death ride into the abyss has been so traumatic and bumpy my arse hurts.

Surely that has little to no bearing on us though. I don't know the strengths of their squad but wingers may not be an area the are short in.Richard J said:

Karl implied he certainly considered him an option even if it was only if Reeves (+1/2 others) didn't work out. As 4th choice cover until Jan he would be ideal.0 -
