Unfortunate that he got sent off in the opening game. I really think, given a run, he'll be decent.5
-
Last season was his worst League One season in his career. Think he can only get better, if we keep hold of him and can get 10 goals out of him as a back up /competition for Magennis then I'll be happy.
09/10: 12 goals
10/11: 5 goals
11/12: 13 goals
(three seasons in the Championship)
15/16: 14 goals
16/17: 2 goals1 -
What about the £10m we got for Scott Parker? Even the £1m we got for Humphrey and Williams would be enough to buy a striker for this season.Halix said:
For heavens sake, how many times must it be said, the Lookman money was LAST year, it went into the Belgian kitty LAST year, its deceased and gone to meet its maker, it has ceased to be, it is an ex transfer. However it did have beautiful plumage.ken_shabby said:I guess the worry is we have actually thinned the squad. I don't understand why we need to lose Novak and Lennon to buy a striker. Watt and Ajose have gone, and we have the Lookman money so if we don't pay out, it's because Roland wants the money for himself. As the window winds down, this is currently a very bad one. There's still time to get a couple in, but with our goalkeeping and striker issues as well as a paper thin squad, and KR needs to grow a pair and tell the SMT they have repeated the same mistakes again.

At 16 I think players still have freedom of movement so there's not much we could do I don't think. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.Sage said:
The one who signed for Man United after playing for them in one trial is a joke. Whoever made that decision not to keep hold of him is going to prove to be a big mistake in my opinion.AsianZidane said:Lost Timmy Abraham a striker & brother of Tammy to Fulham & Largie Ramazani aged 16 a striker with bags of potential & ability to Manchester United. So not keeping hold of academy strikers who show promise.
Worrying for the future!0 -
Think your right as kids can only officially be tied down once they reach 18-years old... I think as well that clubs can only sign these kids if they live within a certain radiusSDAddick said:

Of course if Im right, the clubs just get around this by moving the whole family to within that specified radius... Something else the Sporting Bodies could no doubt control if they wanted to stop big teams from stockpiling these kids!!0 -
Didnt Killer go for about £300k? Or perhaps we could re-sign him?, his knees are in slightly better nick than Sollys!kings hill addick said:

I hope he does but what he wants and what he gets in terms of quality, could well be two different things.2 -
And a keeper?0

Do we really need a winger? Fosu, Holmes, Marshall and KAG. Surely two strikers would be a better investment?10

We still need decent cover at Left back as well. If we were to lose DaSilva for any length of time, I wouldn't fancy Jackson playing there.
Don't know why he wants another winger. Clearly a striker is the priority, and 2 if Novak goes.1 -
That can only happen if Novak goes.moutuakilla said:Do we really need a winger? Fosu, Holmes, Marshall and KAG. Surely two strikers would be a better investment?
A few injuries and KAG will be starting. Him and Fosu look promising but I'm not yet convinced they guarantee goals and assists in the way Holmes does.
Realistically maybe he thinks we need at least one, a striker/winger would be ideal. Someone physical enough to play up front but with enough pace to play out wide. Mavididi would have fit that role in the squad.1 -
Maybe Novak isn't going? Agent talk to keep him in KR's mind during the red card period?ricky_otto said:We still need decent cover at Left back as well. If we were to lose DaSilva for any length of time, I wouldn't fancy Jackson playing there.

Saw marshall in the car park before the game limping and looking in alot of pain. Dont know if his injury is worse than previously thought... may show the need for another winger0

From KRs interview it sounds like we're after someone from a rival club, Grigg?1

Yet again KR cannot keep his mouth shut when perhaps it would be wise to do so.cafc_harry said:From KRs interview it sounds like we're after someone from a rival club, Grigg?

Page? Not sure how long it'll be before he's fit again, but I thought he showed promise.ricky_otto said:We still need decent cover at Left back as well. If we were to lose DaSilva for any length of time, I wouldn't fancy Jackson playing there.

No longer a sticky!!!
Sad times indeed.0 -
Anyway, this might have been mentioned on one of the forward related threads, but Ketts says on his Dr Kish blog that it is Will Grigg that we are pursuing.3

actually he doesn't. He says that Grigg fits the describtion make by Tarby and that as an ex-MK dons player it could well be himcfgs said:Anyway, this might have been mentioned on one of the forward related threads, but Ketts says on his Dr Kish blog that it is Will Grigg that we are pursuing.

Damn my skimreading ineptitude, just saw it said striker target named and then Will Grigg and jumped to a conclusion.Henry Irving said:

As much as I would like us to sign Grigg I really can't see it happening. I'm sure that Grigg won't be happy sitting on the bench but I bet Paul Cook is very pleased with that level of player to be called upon. Toney the loanee from Newcastle I presume could be recalled in January ? and of course might get an injury. Unless Wigan have other good options better than Grigg which is unlikely I can't see them releasing him.
I wonder if Matty Taylor could be back on the cards now that he's slipped further down the pecking order at Bristol City.
My money is on a Prem loanee which as we already know is a bit of a gamble.2 -
As far as I know, we want Grigg and he wants to come to us. The problem is Wigan and whether they allow him to leave, but that is also down to Wigan possibly signing another striker if he comes to us.
Like many things in football, there's a domino effect, we just have to hope they fall for us.6 -
Devante Cole fits it as well.Henry Irving said:

Could we trade Novak in part exchange?3 -
Is Grigg any more likely to start for us than he is for Wigan? Surely in a 4231 formation, Magennis will always be the first choice striker when he's fit.
Where would Grigg play? He's not a winger who will replace Holmes/Marshall/Fosu and i can't see him playing ahead of Clarke or Reeves in the attacking midfield position.
Don't get me wrong, he'd obviously be a welcome addition to the squad, but not sure where he fits in.0 -
Will Grigg has had seasons of 19, 20 and 25 goals at this level, Magennis has had 2 best seasons of 10 goals.
Grigg would start upfront and Magennis would be a good squad option and allow us to mix it up a bit.
Grigg would be absolutely lethal with Holmes supplying10 -
I'm not questioning his goalscoring ability, it's pretty obvious he can score as he's done it with 3 different clubs. I'm questioning whether he can play as a lone central striker, or if all those goals came playing up front with a strike partner in a 442 (genuine question as i don't know)
He's not exactly tall and from memory i wouldn't class him as a big/strong striker, so will offer almost no physical presence like Magennis does1 -
How do you know Grigg wants to come to us? I don't think anyone knows that unless your Griggs Dad.....Sage said:As far as I know, we want Grigg and he wants to come to us. Well I'm assuming that the noises coming from Grigg and his agent to Charlton are that they are willing.DamoNorthStand said:
