Away Kit
I read somewhere that the blue away kit blends in too well with a crowd background, thus making it more difficult for players to pick out others.

Perhaps they are hoping it'll help sell more shirts6

Someone should tell the thousands of other clubs around the world that wear blue. Unless the crowd are all in double denim I doubt it's an issue.DA7 said:Why does the team wear the 'blue' kit at away games if there is no clash of kit colour? Exeter wear green, Charlton should have worn red.

It's Plymouth in green and Exeter in red and white stripes. We should have worn all red at Plymouth due to the shorts.3
-
I agree with DA7, if there's no clash then wear your first kit or maybe change shorts/socks if they clash.
Same when teams come to us. Why did Bristol Rovers wear an all black kit? Not sure their traditional blue and white quarters clashed with our red kit???

well with that logic, does red blend into the crowd too much at home because of all the empty red seats ?DA7 said:Why does the team wear the 'blue' kit at away games if there is no clash of kit colour? Exeter wear green, Charlton should have worn red.

It's nothing to do with colour clashes, and everything to do with wringing the last little drop of money out of supporters. The sad logic of letting money men control our game.2

A team wears an away shirt away from home. Couldn't make it up!7
-
For the one remaining person with a black and white TV. Green and Red appear as the same shade of grey!0

I think clubs should be proud of their colours, and only change kit if there's a colour clash.......just like the old days............but now I guess it's all about the money.3

I agree but there are some factors that we might not be aware of. However, wearing the away kit at home to Ipswich in the friendly was just wrong.Porky said:I think clubs should be proud of their colours, and only change kit if there's a colour clash.......just like the old days............but now I guess it's all about the money.

does anyone remember a few years back (200?) going to WBA and having to wear their away/change shorts as the ref didn't like us both in white shorts?iaitch said:I agree with DA7, if there's no clash then wear your first kit or maybe change shorts/socks if they clash.

Referees usually only insist on socks not matching, it helps figure out throw-ins apparently. They're not bothered about shorts. As someone who is red/ green colourblind, I have no problem with them changing to the away shirt against a green opponent, but don't really get why it bothers people either way!1

I'm going to take a guess and say they haven't got red shorts from Hummel yet, so easier to change the whole kit for away games0

these are on sale in the club shopRothko said:I'm going to take a guess and say they haven't got red shorts from Hummel yet, so easier to change the whole kit for away games

Own colours when ever possible.
If not wear the change strip.
Charlton should always play in red unless there is a colour clash.13 -

For all the stick they get about commercialisation, it's notable that Man U often wear their red shirts away from home, with black shorts if necessary
On Saturday for example, they wore red shirts and black shorts against Swansea, not their away kit, which is blue/grey1 -
Forest Green v Yeovil last Saturday, they both played in Green tops.0

We should always wear red unless there is a clash. Charlton Athletic wear red. It's part of the club's identity and I feel teams should stay true to that whenever possible.3
-
Two teams in (admittedly very different shades of) blue. If this can happen, I don't see why we can't wear red at Plymouth.

Because that is the colour chosen by the founders of the club in 1905 and it represents the history and tradition of the club. Our colours are our colours although I feel the same applies to other clubs. Bristol Rovers play in blue and white quarters and they should wear that when they play a team in red like Charlton.JiMMy 85 said:
