    Morning peeps,

Just picked up the thread again and OMG ......I see I'm going to have emerge from behind the refuge of my keyboard and face the real world. It's one thing gently taking the pee out of Dazzler (BTW, you're a good sport, Dazzler!), but I really ought to keep my big gob shut ..... !

I'm 54 these days and you really do have to be a bit of a sloth to be slower than me.
    Or slower than Dazzler !

After seeing the thread on Charlton Life vs Ipswich i decided to go hunting for the other pictures and found this thread...

It has had me chuckling away a bit, what a whiney and ungrateful little bugger I was! You were all just trying to crown me the Golden Slug!

Having just turned 30, and being a relatively new member, I'd like to nominate myself. I'm working my way back from an injury, so not in great shape but not terrible. I'd love to say that passing thirty and a series of achilles and knee injuries have taken my pace away, but I started with absolutely none. The old lads used to run past me in five-a-side, fortunately I can run for days and would eventually catch them up.

First yard has always been in my head. It's a shame about all the other yards...

That was my old problem. These days I can hit 100 meters in around 12 seconds... I can run for 15 plus miles and maintain a sub 8.30 per mile pace in doing so.

Things change, this is me 2 months back from injury!

Leon Clarke. That run he attempted on his home debut still lives in the memory.

That was on the Right wing.

He needed to goal hang in the six yard box.

We love playing players, out of position.

  • Gary Doherty. My word. That Millwall 4-0 drubbing away springs to mine. Doherty and Dailly at the back. Only one outcome really

Me. You're all going to trust me on this. Even when I was running 13 miles a day 3-4 times a week I still turned slower than almond milk.

Quite comparable in the slowness stakes but I think big Miguel Llera was at the back with Dailly that day.....

The clue is in the thread title?
It was all about who was to be nominated for the special Charlton Life FC 'Golden Slug' award .....?

A few years ago some of us got a Charlton Life football team together to play away teams' supporters.
It all went well until Gumbo was 'volunteered' to play for Ipswich, who were a man short - and scored against us. Turncoat!
