Crofts released by mutual consent

Not upset.. he is no better than Jacko, and we have adequate cover in Jackson, Djiksteel, Lapsile, Aribo and Konsa.. I would imagine even Solly could do a job for the odd game0

If you can take advantage of someone who is wet behind the earholes and naive when it comes to football contract negotiations, then you would be a fool not to activate that clause.Ross said:Makes you wonder why he activated the clause for an extra year in his contract.
Bet he walked away with a handsome figure, just in case his move to Gillingham does not happen. They do appear to have a vacancy in centre midfield after Joshua quit. Plus not to far to travel, living in the medway area.0 -
This will split our drinking debates big time, like everyone half like him and half don't, personally I think coming on in the second half as required was ideal so it's a good luck Crofty I'm gonna miss you up to a point.0

Admittedly, despite being very frustrated in the last 24 hours, I don't think we are light in either of those areas.BR7_addick said:I make us short in CB or CM, or does this mean Lapslie will step up?
Bauer/Sarr
Pearce/Konsa
Kashi/?
JFC/Aribo
CB - we have Konsa, Lennon, Sarr, Bauer, Pearce
CM - Kashi, Konsa, Aribo, JFC, Lapslie, Dijksteel, Jackson
Possibly Reeves dropping into CM with Clarke the number 10.
Short memory, some of you.
Who would have thought, after the end of last season, that Joe Aribo wouldn't have been a regular starter this one?2 -
We've shifted so much dead weight and made some brilliant signings. We are probably one striker short, but that aside it's been a wonderful transfer window. I feel so satisfied. Losing Novak and Crofts was like popping two huge subcutaneous pimples that have been bothering you for ages9
-
Not sad to see him go. As everyone has said there is plenty of cover in that position and lets face it he wasn't that great was he?1

If he was that desperate for first team football, it's possible he wasn't paid off at all.Henry Irving said:
Sure he has got a club lined up but he would still have been paid off.Oggy Red said:
Even then at his age, he's not going to risk not having a club ..... unless he's already got one lined up.Henry Irving said:5 -
Not a massive loss imo. Done his best which you cant fault him for so with that I hope he finds a new club soon.0

Crofts does a job, but his "Charlton Life scores" last season were consistently poor, so he isn't a great loss. Nice to have around, and a good pro though etcjonseventyfive said:This will split our drinking debates big time, like everyone half like him and half don't, personally I think coming on in the second half as required was ideal so it's a good luck Crofty I'm gonna miss you up to a point.
I actually preferred Kevin Foley anyway!1 -

Think we need to listen to Henry here. With the approach for Dijksteel it's clear he has suitors and it seems he wants first team games. He has looked absolute quality and seems ready to make the step up. Moving Crofts on almost ensures him proper game time. Yes, ideally he'd have more experience but I really think with him it's a case of if you're good enough you're old enough.Redhenry said:Good business and keeps Konsa, Anfernee and Aribo happy.
Also worth noting JFC can playing in the holding role quite well, should Kashi get hurt. That would leave Konsa and Aribo competing for the other role. Plus there's still RCC.
For all the times this regime has over-relied on youth, I don't think this is one of them. I think we have the players and they're ready.7 -
Didn't he say there is no room for Wright? Well now there is.0
-
I'm glad both Crofts and Novak have gone as they were awful. But why oh why do these idiots in charge do it now rather then in the summer. Why waste time given them a pre season, letting them play in cup comps etc. Robinson obviously knows they are deadwood so this last minute shit never makes sense. If we sign can sign Wright and an unattached striker ASAP then great, if not they are still a bunch of clueless idiots. I'm betting on not.0

Losing Novak and now Crofts, there is going to be a vacancy for a boo-boy.3

A player that had captained his national side and played in a World Cup final.Missed It said:
Strikers are always at a premium. What sort of player do you get when you're looking for unemployed ones in September?lolwray said:maybe just maybe it gives us the opportunity to bolster the squad with another out of contract striker
Charlton's recruitment fuckwittery continues unabated.
That's what AS Nancy got on 1st September 2016 in Alou Diarra.

My wife drove past the training ground this morning , saw the team bus leaving, their wasn't very many players on it apparently!1

Doesn't Reeves fit into CM I know he can play the 10 but he can also play CMBR7_addick said:I make us short in CB or CM, or does this mean Lapslie will step up?

You can't have too many players covering multiple positions, if that was the case then you'd need Dion Dublin and phill jones then your squad is complete. Two for each position has to be the very minimum.AddickedAthletic said:

Josh Wright's best friend is Jamie O'Hara.
In fact, was released by Charlton, after being photographed in drag on a night out with O'Hara. I'm not saying the two events are related, but...
So, any bets that Wright won't rock up as Billericay's next big signing?0 -
From reading what Robinson said about him going somewhere soon maybe a club came in for him last night but didn't have time for the transfer to go through (presumably a free transfer) so Crofts asked to leave as he would get first team football for his last year or two playing so most likely took a small sum instead of the rest of his years wage.1

Didn't he phone in sick for training and go to Thorpe park with jade goody' husband and was photographed on a roller coaster which made the press?East_Stand_Loopy said:Josh Wright's best friend is Jamie O'Hara.

Can see Crofts turning up at Oldham or Bury - certainly Oldham are seriously short of bodies.1

Which club has Josh Wright left? Where did Crofts start out?Isawsummersplay said:Can see Crofts turning up at Oldham or Bury - certainly Oldham are seriously short of bodies.
That or a Kent Conference or Conference South club I reckon.0 -

Scunthorpe have made an absolute killing* with Crofts and Novak

Novak must have said at training, "I'm signing for Scunthorpe".ironbrunet said:Crofts is signing for Scunthorpe

Crofts straightaway offered: "If they want you that badly, I'll drive you there".
"Good idea", chipped in Robbo. "And you might as well stay there, 'cos I'm clearing out all the deadwood".
