I'm hoping to wonder up there at the weekend , anyone been before / got any good recommendations of things to do (apart from the football).

The North Lincolnshire Museum is Scunthorpes 'Jewel in the crown' according to Trip Advisor.

    Bloody hell - what's the 22nd best thing to do in Scunthorpe?

    Scunthorpe is an atrocious name, I wonder if there's any local demand to change it?

    any place thats got the c word in its name is bound to be a blinder, actually had a night out up there after we went to hull away a few season back got a feeling we had lost 2 or 3-0, not a bad place remember being in a bar where it was all you could drink for a couple of hours for £6.00

    Sad to say, the place is an f’ing tip!
    Plenty of Wayne & Waynettas around too.....so, be prepared to cover the kids eyes up!

    I went up there a few years ago, I think we lost and Youga was playing for us 2009? We stayed overnight in Cleethorpes, and went to a pub there that had a Marc Bolan tribute act going on. The thing was, I think the fella actually thought he was Bolan and was recreating one of his gigs circa 1971. A middle aged woman screamed at him “sing something we know, you little c##t” in a broad North Lincs accent.
    Magical magical place.
    Drinking is ridiculously cheap up there .

    Get a cab out of there as quickly as possible, that TripAdvisor review is being polite. The North Lincolnshire museum is empty except for a few pictures of Gooles iconic chimneys and where they got their famous webbed feet from. It's a shit hole, according to the people who live there.

    Top thing to do in Scunthorpe? Leave.

    If that's not an immediate option, take yourself out of your liberal elitist London bubble for a moment and go see the near deserted city that is the old Steel works and see why places like Scunthorpe have so many people reliant on benefits and disenfranchised with modern post industrial Britain.

    Places like this are primordial soup from which Brexit evolved.

    Well after a 6 hour drive up here , I’m welcomed by the sight of bellowing chimneys clogging up the airwaves, lovely!

    It’s bleeding grim up here!

    I s’pose it’s all a matter of degree. That Truro supporter @GRTourist said this of his recent visit to ‘the dirty northern bas***ds’.

    ‘I made my way out to The Valley on the 1112 for Gravesend, through the bowels of South East London. It never ceases to astonish me just how bloody massive London is, and after an hour and a half of travelling, the rail network finally vomited me out at Charlton station’.

    I can only speculate that Charlton is GRTourist’s most northerly stop off so far.

    When ever I do get around and about the country I like to check out the cost of living 240k for a 5 bed detached house sounds bonza , could live like a king, only trouble is it’s in Scunthorpe!
