Amos: 8 - Did well with the saves (especially the penalty) but distribution painfully slow
Solly: 4.5 - Got ripped to pieces, poor game by his standards
Konsa: 6.5 - Did OK but always passes sideways or back
Sarr: 7 - Had a good game and was always positive
DaSilva: 6 - Worked hard but covered off well
Aribo: 6.5 - Some great tackling but passing was very average
Marshall: 5.5 - Made plenty of yards with the ball but little end product
Forster-Caskey: 6 - Fairly anonymous after the first half hour
Clarke: 6 - Some nice touches early on but then disappeared
Holmes: 5.5 - Saw lots of ball and worked hard, but no end product
Magennis: 5 - Poor service but must do better
  • Amos: 8.5
    Solly: 5.5
    Konsa: 6
    Sarr: 7
    DaSilva: 8
    Aribo: 6.5
    Marshall: 6.5
    Forster-Caskey: 5
    Clarke: 5
    Holmes: 5
    Magennis: 4
  • Amos: 8 couldn't fault him for anything. great save for the penalty.
Solly: 5 got beaten on a number occasions.
Konsa: 6 better than the last couple of games.
Sarr: 6 same as konsa, though he did do some strange passes.
DaSilva: 7 when he goes forward he is a real threat
Aribo: 6.5 very good first half. won the ball. gave it away alot in the second half.
Marshall: 5 hardly gets the ball. when he does he rarely uses his pace. instead he stands there Ronaldo esq surveying the rest of the field meanwhile their defenders can get themselves into position.
Forster-Caskey: 5 we lost the midfield throughout, Aribo tried to gain some control in there but forster kasky was inefficial.
Clarke: 5 comes back from injury. didn't link up play and gave the ball away.
Holmes: 6 our only threat but yet again poor decision making. he tries but everything doesn't seem to come off for him. falls over too often.
Magennis: 4 hardly won anything in the air. caused no problems. didn't get any decent service though.

Live stream (hopefully that's an assumed with me)

Amos: 8 - +1 for the penalty save. Maybe our most underrated player this season. Couldn't do anything for the goal which was a really, really good ball in.

Solly: 4.5 - He was ridiculously hard done by for the penalty, and won't hold that (see what I did there?) against him. But outside of it he was poor. He looks like he's lost 3 yards of pace just over the course of the season. Especially with the ball he looks like he's running in slow motion. He remains a good 1-v-1 defender but it's just too easy to play around him.

Konsa: 7 - Solid with the exception of the Pitman chance where he blasted over. Noticed this two or three times now, most notably with Rochdale's goal, when the ball is out wide on the right he can get caught in that no man's land where he doesn't quite close down the space to stop any cross coming in, but he lets him man drift 2-3 yards away from him.

Sarr: 7.5 - Solid as per. It's him +1 at the back for me. I wouldn't drop him for Pearce in a million years, and I wouldn't force him to play on the right for Pearce either.

DaSilva: 7.5 - Everything good that happened in the first half came from him. His turn of pace is ridiculous for this league. The foul that lead to their goal was actually a really good bit of defending where he got across their player, got shoved, and...gave away a free kick somehow.

Aribo: 6 - First half good, second half not so good. In the first half he looked more than capable. In the second half he was all over the place. He constantly got dragged out of position, and he didn't really seem to know where he should be playing. He has all the tools to be good at this level, but he needs to have a better understanding of his role and play alongside someone who isn't JFC (both of which should fall on Robinson).

Marshall: 4 - He's rapid and two-footed and I've always wondered why he was playing at this level if he was as good as his billing. The answer is, he touch is poor, and his crossing is erratic to poor. He takes three touches to get the ball under control, at that point has been closed down, and either runs into a blind alley, knocks the ball off the defender for a throw, or crosses to the first man. If he can't knock it in to space and run he doesn't seem to know what to do. Need to see a lot more from him.

Forster-Caskey: 5.5 - Probably no worse than Aribo, and he also didn't seem to know what position he was playing, or did a terrible job of executing. It would have been natural to play him in. the deepest midfield role taking the place of Kashi. But to do that he needs to be positionally disciplined, and either he did a terrible job at it, or he wasn't given that remit.

Clarke: 3.5 - Don't remember a single thing he did. Shocking.

Holmes: 5 - When the goals aren't going in for Ricky, he seems to run out of ideas quickly and becomes a very predictable player. He will run at a player, not beat them, check back on to his left, and loft a cross into the box. He's been in a bad run of form of late, and I think because of past contributions he's gotten a let off. But for me, his position should be up for grabs the same as anyone's with Fosu and Reeves coming back and KAG in form.

Magennis: 4.5 - He looked poor, but to be fair to him what's he to do when all crossed are just sort of lofted into the box and the ball is played long to him. The Pompey defenders were very smart to just step off him, knowing that even if he won his headers there wasn't anyone around him.

    Ahearne-Grant: n/a
    Best: n/a
    Reeves: n/a

Robinson: 2 - I've largely been supportive of him but yesterday was poor for many reasons. We didn't have any coherence going forward. Whatever rehearsed plays we looked to have at the start of the season have gone. We neither pressed nor sat deep. We got to the edge of the final third then ran out of ideas. Billy Clarke was non-existent. Aribo and JFC didn't seem to know which one was the sitting midfielder and both got dragged out of position.

And the substitutions. Clarke should have been off after 60. With a game where you're struggling for control, why bring KAG on when you have Reeves on the bench? That's not a knock at KAG, he's obviously in form, but the game didn't need him, it needed someone to put their foot on the ball and dictate.

This is a really important time in the season for Robinson. This is really where he is going to need to spend a lot of time on the training ground with players working on their roles, their defensive shape, and their movement without the ball. It should be noted that pretty much everyone had a bad game yesterday, and that we've had a lot of injuries. But it clearly feels like we've sort of hit a brick wall. All teams go through it, good teams find a way past it. He has to get us playing more intelligently and more quickly in the final third. We have to stop lumping balls to Josh. We have to get that self-belief with the ball at our feet back.

    Also, where was Dijksteel yesterday?

Amos: 6.5 saved a penalty. At least he tried
Solly: 4.5 would have been a 5 but we needed a captain out there and he's no good at it
    Konsa: 5
    Sarr: 5.5
    DaSilva: 6.5
Aribo: 5.5 did ok first half
    Marshall: 5
    Forster-Caskey: 5.5
    Clarke: 6
Holmes: 4 needs to pass the one time he laid on a cross Mag and KAG were late so might as well have shot
    Magennis: 4 needs a rest

Ahearne-Grant: at least ran at them
Best: looked good when he came on. Relatively speaking
    Reeves: n/a

    Amos: 7.5 - a great penalty save
Solly: 5 - gave everything but struggled against Lowe (although practically every other full back in this division would have done so as well)
    Konsa: 6 - did ok
Sarr: 6 - some very good moments - including his sublime pass to the right wing in the first half - but I'm afraid that he always has a potentially mistake or two in his locker
DaSilva: 7.5 - a cut above the rest of the team at present and a really consistent performer
Aribo: 6 - good in the first half, dipped in the second but, overall, did ok
Marshall: 5.5 - not much came off
Forster-Caskey: 5 - a very quiet game and was unable to affect the game
Clarke: 5 - started well but understandably faded after so long out. Will get better
Holmes: 4.5: really poor by his exalted standards
Magennis: 4 - a desperately poor performance. His confidence must be at rock bottom and, notwithstanding our dire lack of options, he probably needs to come out of the side

Can't believe there are people giving Amos less than an 8!

For me he was low because from about 20th minute onwards he was too slow and risk averse in passing short (they only had two pressing and big gap behind) and so punted everything on to the number 6s head. He in part stopped us playing
  • Cant believe there are people saying Magennis's hold up play was good - it was abysmal.

Amos: 7 - great pen save - decision making was poor though.
Solly: 6.5 - silly pen but great desire.
Konsa: 3.5 - Cant stand all this rude boy bit, sort the attitude out.
    Sarr: 6.5- tried hard.
    DaSilva: 6 - decent
Aribo: 6 - good 1st half, poor second
    Marshall: 6 -good
    Forster-Caskey: 5 - didnt see him
Clarke: 4 - What does he actually do?
    Holmes: 5 - LAZY
Magennis: 5 - not the right player for 1 up top.

Leon Best- 8, done more than the rest of the attacking players did in 10 minutes.

Anyone giving Magennis more than 4 wasn’t there or is on a wind up.
