How Do We Get A Win At Blackburn?

Since I've been a Charlton fan (2001) Blackburn have always been a dodgy side for us imo. I haven't seen us play in person since Rotherham away this season, in which we were immense. Since then though we have been very shaky and Blackburn have been on the charge and will now finish top 2 I would say. In our last 6 games we have played them we have lost 5 and drawn 1. They have obviously had changes from then and so have we but I just don't see it being any different.

Basically I think it's got 4-1 Blackburn written all over it, our boys would deffo put them to shame on karaoke though
  • Score more goals than them.

    Beat me to it.
  • Different game from teams that bring 11 lumps to The Valley and outmuscle us. I won’t stick my life savings on us winning, but it might suit us more than recent games.
  • Freeze the pitch and hope we get our injuries back along with some new players in January before the re-arranged fixture
  • Bribe the cook at the Blackburn training ground to put something dodgy in the Friday lunch.
  • Exlax in their halftime refreshments should slow them down

I think you'll find that will speed them up. Well, it will speed up something.

Make a few changes, keep it tight at the back, build on not conceding the first goal, don’t give away free kicks near the area with Mulgrew around, play our passing game, be confident, release Dasilva to attack more, tell Holmes he can’t try to do it on his own, bring Pearce back in to marshal the defence, bring Dijksteel in place of Aribo in his more natural position, maybe the presence of Jackson could come in handy on a game like this, unfortunately for me that means leaving Lennon out of the 18, give Magennis time to come off the bench instead of playing the full 90 every single game...

    Amos
    Solly Konsa Pearce Sarr
    Dijksteel Forster-Caskey
    Holmes Clarke Dasilva
    Best

Phillips, Jackson, Aribo, Marshall, Reeves, Ahearne-Grant, Magennis

Won’t happen and maybe deemed to be too defensive, but we must get a clean sheet soon, it’s been too long now. People will question playing Sarr at left back but without the ball Dasilva can come back and help out, they also play Whittingham at right midfield so will be coming onto his left foot, a tucked in Sarr can help us be more compact and allow Dijksteel to sit and free Forster-Caskey up of his defensive duties a little, being the instigator for the counter attack releasing players like Clarke and Holmes. The pace and height of Best can come in handy, and would encourage us to play more instead of hitting it up to Magennis’ head. The three of Konsa, Pearce and Sarr gives us enough height to deal with any high balls in the box, and the fact that Konsa is there too allows him to bring it into midfield and us to shuffle with Pearce and Sarr tucking in, allowing Forster-Caskey to advance forward and Clarke to get closer to Best, this is so important that the distances are not too big.
You forgot about setting up a prayer meeting to pray for Solly's return to form.

Simple, score more goals than Blackbun! That is how football works doesn't it?

    You’d think, right.
Could you email those tactics to Roland?

I remember Darren Pitcher scoring a cup goal at Ewood and us getting battered but winning 0-1. Same again, lots of luck, Park the bus, defender scores.

Less sideways and backwards, more of a direct approach. Get more than 1 person upfront in the box and put some decent crosses in and try putting in some BLOODY SHOTS !!

Does the gift of several houses (in Blackburn) to the officials either:

    A) contravene any rules and
B ) influence the result positively or negatively?

Keep it tight and hit on the counter. I would deffo rest Magennis - he looks knackered. Ricky may not have had the best game on Saturday but he can always produce a rabbit out of a hat. More than likely though we will lose, we never seem to do anything other than lose at Blackburn.

  • 1. Play indirect powder puff football.
    2. Pick the only striker with the mobility of a super tanker.
    3. Get the manager to shout a lot at the 4th official.
    4. Concede a sloppy goal.against the run of play.
    5. Collapse when it looks a bit tricky.
    6. Revert to.the subs bench and then realise none have yet reached puberty.

    We will win this.

In typical Charlton fashion, when the crowds come, the build up is big and the need to win is apparent we cock it up, always. (last week v Pompey)

This week it’s Blackburn away who are on fine form, it’s -3, probably worse up there, it’s less than two weeks before xmas, interest is down, it’s miles away, we will have about 250 there. In typical Charlton fashion, we win these games.

Generally you win by outscoring the opposition - We need to go all out deploy all goal scoring tactics - We've tried to play a longer ball game lately so maybe we need to shorten play up again and go more tactical than put it on Mag's head...

Drop Josh, get Fosu back, play 442 with KAG and Best.

    Amos
    Solly Pearce Konsa Da Silva
    Aribo
    Holmes Fosu
    Clarke
    Best KAG

Maybe play Sarr at left back instead of Da Silva? Without Magennis, that looks very thin aerially (defending wise).
