Took my Dad to that game as Christmas present, he's a Chelsea fan. Oh how he enjoyed the delights of the North Stand!raytreacy69 said:When we beat Chelski 4-2 Boxing Day 2003

Brilliant stuff from the boys that day0 -
Finding out Alan Pardew had replaced the beleaguered Les Reed. I remember where I was and rushed home to post on here that there really was a Father Christmas.6

Being bought a red and white shirt when I was about 9.0

The 2-2 draw with Swindon. 1-0, Burton and Sodje sent off in the first half, only conceded 2 in the second and llera popped up to equalise at the death.7

I also remember the 5-0 drubbing at West Ham. I wanted to leave after 30 mins, but was in the home end and my West Ham supporting mate refused. Ended up in the Wetherspoons at at Bromley south with @Clem_Snide and a few others.... we drank them dry of vodka, so have to have Gin and Red Bull......not nice.2

My first ever away game, at Palace on Boxing Day 1982. Drew 1 1 after being behind.0

It has to be the Chelski game. Probably the best performance ever by a Charlton team.0

Beating Man City 5.0 was pretty good!4

Didn't we beat Spurs away 1-0 over the Christmas period? Carlton Cole with the goal? Or NY Day if that counts0

As a kid, we'd have massive Boxing Day parties out our house, starting at about noon and finishing about 10am the following morning.
Always seemed the house was full of family eating, drinking and playing parlour games. I absolutely loved the whole experience and always remember the men leaving at about 1pm and walking to Charlton for the game. Was never allowed to join in until I was about 8 years old.
It was fantastic. With my Dad, Grandad, second cousins, Uncle, and distant relatives who I saw once every year. Including Johnny Fryer. To see all these relatives 'losing it' at a football match will be forever imprinted on my memory.
The nearest I come nowadays is going with my son and step son, both Charlton fanatics. Gone are the days when all the men of the family would disappear and leave the women behind to prepare for the evenings festivities.
Rightly, times have changed, but I loved this 'men only' events as a young kid back in the 60's/70's. The new words I learned have stayed with me for the rest of my life.3 -
4-4 Draw away to Ipswich, many years ago, 2 down pulled it back to 2-2. Then 4-2 down, pulled it back to 4-4 and then missed a chance to win it in the last minute.0

Definitely the 4-2 over Chelski but seeing Claus's humiliation of Weaver(?) on the telly has the best comedy value.0

I have to say that (other than the odd occasion), we have a pretty forlorn Boxing Day record. As such I cannot really add much to the original question, so forgive me for changing it slightly.
This also includes the worst team performance I have ever seen from a Charlton side.
Away to Wimbledon.....I think we lost 3-1........truly abysmal particularly as I had got up early and driven back from The East Midlands to watch the most soulless pile of shyte I have ever seen!0 -
If it counts, loved beating arsenal 1-0 on New year's Day, JJ goal and Deano saving a penalty3
-
If we are including New Year’s Day as the xmas period the 3-2 win over Ipswich after Marcus Bent put them 2-0 up in 5 minutes.
Or a 0-0 draw at home to Blackburn back in Selhurst days. We went straight to the game still wearing our Zens news years eve clobber.0 -

I came straight from a party to the Blackburn game after falling asleep on the floor for a couple of hours. Sat at the back of the Arthur Waite, it was freezing and I’ve never felt so rough at a game. To make it worse, the game was dire.MrOneLung said:If we are including New Year’s Day as the xmas period the 3-2 win over Ipswich after Marcus Bent put them 2-0 up in 5 minutes.

Boxing Day clash at Yeovil has to be up there in terms of performances for me - We were losing 1-0 and then later 2-1 before we got our second equaliser so far as I remember to make it 2-2
All our rivals were winning themselves yet then Danny Green popped up in injury time to win it 3-2, at the same time all our rivals suddenly started drawing or losing.
That was the day I knew we were going to get promoted from League One - the Bournemouth win a few months later in similar fashion confirmed it3 -
One of the worst memories though recently has to be the Southampton game where we lost 1-0.
Wasnt the match that made it a bad memory, more the arriving at Fleet Services on the coach to find the BBC on covering that epic Tsunami out in Asia... Know its a different scenario to the Twin Towers but its one of those occasions where I'll never forget where I was0 -
The season we went up through the playoffs.
We played Norwich on boxing day and beat them 2-1. Robbo and Kins for us and a little shitty sixteen year old for them called Bellamy.
It was something about the day, where everybody seemed happy and upbeat which epitomised our season.

That was the day Steve Gritt took over in goal as I remember, late equaliser from us?DaveMehmet said:My first ever away game, at Palace on Boxing Day 1982. Drew 1 1 after being behind.

For some reason 83 season played Portsmouth away lost 4-0.We met at the Yorkshire Grey for the coach and the coach window got put through on the way back by a couple of Pompey. The game was on the 26th but the real buzz was all talking about playing Palace a couple of days later at home and guess what we lost that but was a fun day.0

Thinking about it the palace game at home was on the 27th the day after the Portsmouth game.Tavern said:For some reason 83 season played Portsmouth away lost 4-0.We met at the Yorkshire Grey for the coach and the coach window got put through on the way back by a couple of Pompey. The game was on the 26th but the real buzz was all talking about playing Palace a couple of days later at home and guess what we lost that but was a fun day.
Can't remember ever playing on 2 consecutive days before.0 -

One of the very few games that I have driven to....also remember driving to Palace on a boxing day and parking at the wrong tower...bloody long walk to shitehouse.Tavern said:For some reason 83 season played Portsmouth away lost 4-0.We met at the Yorkshire Grey for the coach and the coach window got put through on the way back by a couple of Pompey. The game was on the 26th but the real buzz was all talking about playing Palace a couple of days later at home and guess what we lost that but was a fun day.

My mind always goes back to White Hart Lane. Several young ladies walking around the pitch dressed in saucy Santa outfits!
But on the pitch, it can only be the Chelsea game surely?0
