What Positions Do We Most Need To Upgrade in January?

We will be fobbed off with one-for-one transfers. We will sell our better players and recruit desperadoes who might have looked a flash-in-the-pan one-upon-a-time to keep the eternal optimists happy. Remember the time we bought Clive Mendonca? A striker who had ripped us a new one on several occasions and practically beaten us by himself. That was real ambition, it caused genuine excitement, raised expectations and look what happened? The clubs often acquire players who set the pulse racing. All ours seem to be "who's he" or journeymen has-beens. I mean Leon Best - the manager had to phone owner and beg for a short-term loan which he didn't want to support, and it wasn't because Ibrahimovic is on his way.

Wasn't that only because he had a clause in his contract? Otherwise Gomez should have gone for a lot more.

Not sure how many times we've scored four goals this season, but we did up at Oldham in September. Interestingly Josh was missing, and we played KAG in his place. We managed four but could have scored more. Even Dodoo scored. We were firing on all cycliders for half an hour or so, until Fane intervened.

So I think we need a Fane type midfielder with real physical presence. We are all a bit lightweight and samey in that area.

It seems that Holmes is even more vital to your season than I first thought. If he's not at the races then you seem a bit lost. Marshall should have been an important player but, from what Ive read, hes not the player he was for Bradford last season.

Reeves doesn't seem to be the player he was at MK either, although I don't know what his injury situation has been like since.

Someone mentioned on another thread about playing 442 and getting back to basics, which is exactly what Harris has done with us. I've never been a fan of modern formations and have always been a big advocate of two up top so 442 suits.
