Crisis

Hi all,
Just a quick note.

If anyone knows anyone who is concerned or worried about homelessness over the Christmas’s period please check out - https://www.crisis.org.uk/.

I’m volunteering at a Bermondsey site, Christmas eve night, Christmas day night and Boxing Day so chuck them my way and I’ll cheer them up moaning about Roland!

Thanks.

First time in 6 years I won't be doing something.

Agreed it was a humbling experience. Met some people who truly deserved to be homeless and others who were some of the best people I have ever come across.

If people are ever considering it, would highly recommend it as can really change your outlook on life.

I did overnights when I did it the first time 2 years ago. Well if our paths don’t cross on the changeover, good luck

    Hats off to you all
  • Well done guys for highlighting the cause, I’m going to wear a dodgy Christmas hat to work today, if I can manage to keep it on all day I’ll do a contribution towards crisis ( I probably will anyway ) just an idea to highlight a good cause, and maybe think of others less fortunate.

In my, relatively, new job as a manager in the homeless hostel section I'll be working over Xmas.
Many, many thanks to everyone who volunteers and donates. I was distributing toys and food parcels today and it's quite humbling how grateful people are for rrelatively small donations.
Unfortunately homelessness is year round and we could do with volunteers and helpers every month.
So if you get enjoyment and fulfillment at Xmas give it a go through the year if you can.
Merry Xmas and huge thanks to you all.

People that dig him out are so pathetic. He’s got millions of fans and still he does a good thing on Xmas day. Focus on you.

Just finished my overnight shift, what a fantastic yet humbling experience.
The volunteers ranging from early 20s to 60s were a huge credit.

    Merry Christmas.
  • @iamdan and @cabbles hats off to you both. I'd love to hear how it all went once you've finished as I'm sure a lot of others on here would also.

Hello mate - glad you enjoyed it. There was a proper good buzz as I was leaving y’day at 11pm when my shift was over

For those of you that are interested, as a general volunteer, you’re asked to do a number of things on an hourly rotation which could be anything from manning the gate to opening doors for the guests to cleaning

The 2 pieces of interaction I had y’day were playing bingo with an old Turkish chap and then table tennis with a couple of the younger lads

@iainment good work mate and I hope it goes well for you over Xmas

    @iamdan glad you enjoyed it

Well done to everyone who gave up their time for this and other charity work over Christmas.
