Clement Sacked...

I imagine both Bowen and Hughes will be looking for employment soonpaulbaconsarnie said:Sooner or later Mark Bowen will have to be surgically removed from Mark Hughes.
Probably too much at stake for Swansea to let him cut his teeth as a number 1 though.
If Coleman hadn't bizarrely taken the Sunderland job, surely this would have been his ideal job, seeing that's where he comes from...2 -
Mark Bowen was invaluable to us as a player in 97/98 at left back. Bags of experience at the time. Arguably unlucky to lose his place to a new summer signing in 98 and the new signing's name was Chris Powell.paulbaconsarnie said:Sooner or later Mark Bowen will have to be surgically removed from Mark Hughes.

I think his legs went the same place as Jacko's.AddickFC81 said:

What are you doing on here giving sensible, well thought out analysis!Garrymanilow said:
He's had great success as a coach and was very highly thought of when Derby appointed him. He was sacked when Derby, perennial bottlers, were 5th and 5 points off the top of the Championship, and they ended up 5th and 15 points of the top. They finished the next season 9th. They're 4th now, 10 points off the leaders.Chrissy\\\'s Army!! said:Strange appointment in the 1st place. Sacked by derby in the championship in his only previous job, then took over Swansea in the premier league
His managerial record didn't warrant a premier league job.
Swansea had a net spend of -£20m this summer, which is insane for a team that has spent the previous two seasons in a relegation scrap, and the players they did sign have been absolute howlers; Roque Mesa (£11m) who has made three Premier League appearances, Sam Clucas (£15m) despite him not fitting into their playing style and Wilfried Bony (£12m) who had scored 6 Premier League goals in two seasons. He also needed a full pre-season, so of course they signed him on deadline day. To the surprise of no-one he is now injured. Abraham and Sanches were Clement's choices, and Sanches has been a total letdown, but Abraham has done alright given his lack of support.
They also sold all his best players; Sigurdsson contributed to more than half of Swansea's goals last season with goals and assists, and they sold Jack Cork and Fernando Llorente. Those three were essentially Swansea's only decent players. This season's signings also aren't the only ones that have been terrible. Their record signing is Borja Baston (18 PL appearances, 1 goal, currently out on loan). Ever since Swansea sold so much of their stake to the Americans, profit has been valued over the consistency and careful planning that got them to where they are. Paul Clement isn't perfect, but I don't think there's a single manager who could have made a decent fist of this season given the way the club's run. They're going to go the way of Sunderland unless something drastically changes soon.

Clement replaced by the guy who was sacked by Sheffield Wednesday only last week after leaving them 15th in the championship.
Only in football could you be sacked for not doing well, then get yourself a better job a week later.

No - he used that information to support his opinion. Colin just reported stuff that was widely know as new information, hopefully I've highlighted the difference.paulie8290 said:

To be fair to Carvalhal its probably not a bad appointment
For two seasons he got Sheffield Wednesday into the Play-Offs and like Huddersfield last season they shouldnt really have gotten to them the first time round (let alone the Final)
This season its not quite worked out for him but I dont believe a Manager can go from good to bad so quickly - Just look at Hodgson; sacked from England for doing poorly with his reputation in tatters... He's now doing a pretty damn good job at Crystal Palace (Especially tonight against Arsenal)... At least its not the same bloody Premier League appointment of managerial musical chairs!!0
