“I’m not sure of on goings regarding the takeover. I’ve seen people be shown round the training ground and the facilities but I’m but unsure on names of consortiums. I know just as much as you do.
“There are still going to be many different obstacles to try and overcome and it’s concerning that the takeover talk is happening in the middle of January, as we need to bring in more players.
“I still don’t know if the takeover is going to happen in a week or five months, we’re in the dark over that.
“My job is to manage the team and everything above me will take care of itself.”
Not like KR to be shy at coming forward. Particularly as his job may be at risk.2 -

Karl Robinson: I wake up hoping for takeover confirmation

Karl Robinson has admitted he wakes up every day hoping that Charlton’s takeover has gone through.
The Addicks are still in the League One play-off hunt but the Liverpudlian can only do loan deals unless owner Roland Duchatelet clinches a sale of the club.
“It’s okay people saying get loans in but we can only play five,” said Robinson. “We’ve got Ben Amos, Jay Dasilva – who has been outstanding – and Stephy Mavididi, who’s a top player.
“If we replace Ricky Holmes with a loan and also bring in a couple of strikers then that limits what we can do on a matchday.
“I want two permanent and two loans.
“Every morning I wake up and hope I can sign a player and we can do something to make the club stronger and keep the players I want to keep.
“I’ve had three very controversial windows in the time I’ve been here. I think it will eventually come out what I have spent – and it will shock the life out of the fans.”
Addicks director Richard Murray is due to meet Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Club representatives tomorrow to provide an update on takeover talks.
“I know Richard will tell the truth,” said Robinson. “Hopefully the fans appreciate I’m in the same situation as them. We’re all in a really grey area.
“There are fans who have been supporting this club for hundreds of years when you add them together – I’ve been here a short space of time and it is hurting me.
“Whether you are CARD [Coalition Against Roland Duchatelet], the trust or anyone else you maybe think everything feels a bit stalled. The due diligence seems to be moving the club closer to new hands. I hope it is this month to enable me to bring players in – the window for that decreases every single day.”

Interesting that he mentions due diligence almost as if it has or is taking place.
And he know saying the previous windows weren't good either which I assume refers to how little of the Lookman money he could spend.

I wasn't sure if he meant he spent a lot or very little. I assume very little.0

Fosu and Page are the only two bought maybe? But I don't think many clubs in league One have actually spent money.0

I've been moving that way for a few years now. I'd probably say NFL has become my favourite sport over football these days.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:

FFS. What an utter shit show our game in has England become. How have we let this happen?
Our clubs will just become temporary playthings for corporations, grotesque billionaires and private equity investors.
I've lived and breathed the game since being about 5 years old and even remember thinking as a kid on occasion where I'd meet someone who decline no interest in it "What's the point of life if you're not into football ?"
Not naive enough to ignore that football and the wider world has changed and the realist in me knows that the only route to success is to sell out to an ego/ commercially- driven ownership with absolutely no link to the club and who couldn't care less whether they're buying Barnet or Barnsley.
But the fact that you now can casually tweet about acquiring a club, any arbitrary club, with unique history, tradition and dedicated fan base of thousands who have spent their lives devoted to them, and materially shape their future, prosperity (and very survival) in a manner as if you're looking to purchase a pair of shoes is devastating in the context of the English game. What's more is regardless of the laughably inept "fit and proper" supposed filter process the reality seems to be that it is as easy as buying a pair of loafers and sod the consequences to the institutions that have stood as a focal point in our towns and cities and their inhabitants for over a century.
Never envisaged that I'd ever think this but I can't see myself following the game in 5-10 years if it carries on on this trajectory.
Utterly depressing.0 -
I wonder if Karl Robinson frantically checks Charlton Life every morning for takeover news.11

Utterly depressing.
We (as a nation) have made a profit and short term gain but at a greater long term cost.
I know this makes me sound 'conservative' but it is not the case. I like change and like renewal but I like it to be sustainable and inclusive.
Strangely enough, my old ‘sparring partner’ Riviera has to be applauded for going down the exact opposite route and as such has created a venue that meets all the criteria of a huge success story, i.e. putting the customer first and fulfilling a passion he’s no doubt had for some years. Going into the licensed victullers industry at such a time was without doubt something of a gamble!
I hasten to add that without doubt he seems a far more relaxed and happy individual now that he has followed his dream and succeeded......something that many a get rich quick operator misses out on completely.
Just an example of what can be achieved when it’s not all about the next £ note.
NOTHING MAKES E’M HOLLER LIKE THE ALMIGHTY $!!!!!6 -
