I don't go to many away games. After last night it will will be a very long time before I go again.
Here's what I shelled out for that feast of entertainment:
Tickets £48
Petrol £15
Food £10
Progs £6
Bottle of Fanta £1.50
Small bottle of Fozzies £3 (three!!!!!!)
Grand total £83.50
Here's what I could have done: Gone to the pictures; seen a concert ; taken my family out for a meal; gone bowling; bought half a dozen CDs or DVDs; stayed in, watched tv and put the cash in the Bradford & Bingley.
Any of these options (and many many more) would have been preferrable. But I chose to follow that bunch of gormless idiots swan around whilst picking up massive pay cheques for the privelige. The only good thing I can see is that I've been totally vindicated for all the times I haven't been.
I can take losing, when the team tries. I didn't mind losing to Wolves and Wednesday so much, because at least they had a go and there was always a glimmer of hope that we could turn it around. Last night was different though. Last night was pathetic from start to finish.
Trouble is, it got me seriously thinking about how much I enjoy going to home games, and in all honesty I'm not sure I do that much. Increasingly it is feeling more like a chore than a pleasure. I don't know if I'll renew at the end of the season, but at the moment I feel I could do something far more productive with my time.
Following Charlton - it's a mugs game.

I don't go to many either stig but wouldn't miss a game lke last night for love nor money. Always got to be at Palace regardless of cost.
I was ill over the weekend so didn't drink last night and drove so cost me about £40 - despite the result still love a palace game.0 -
It'll probably be my last away game to be honest, don't go to many anymore nowadays. Not too keen on the elements that are involved who seem to think its big to intimidate people, and the little gangs of give it large teenage thugs - the ugly side of the game I could live without to be honest.
There was one group who seemed to be on a school outing all wearing baseball caps, escorted by the police. Either it was a school outing or they were so obvious the police latched on to them.0 -
You only have to read this message board to realise that those fans who wish to sit and watch the football they have paid to see such as Large's parents are no longer welcome at away games as far as some of our "support" are concerned.
And Ooh Ah wonders why our away support is bad. The chavvy element alienate a lot of fans.0 -

That's slightly over the top. We have only one away game a season, Palace, where the support is a bit more 'laddish' than normal. No co-incidence as well it is the one where we make a decent noise.
Yes, everyone was standing last night. But if you were adament you want to go, and you want to sit down, then you could of arranged when the seats went on sale to get ones in the front row.0 -
I actually enjoyed the standing part and to be fair yes it was Palace so to be expected I'm afraid, I was thinking more after the game.0

Cardiff may be a bit ladish as well.
There was plenty of space in the away end last night to accommodate people wanting to sit down, the front of the half awake on the palace side were sitting and were probably a bit older less aggressive than the ones at the back, who look like they were on day release or something.0 -

Who said they weren't welcome? Me and a few mates even said to some older people in the row behind, do you want to swap rows as we want to stand and they replied, 'no it's ok we expected to stand tonight anyway'.
To be fair it's only Palace away thats like that. And if they supported any of a number of other clubs they'd have to stand at EVERY away game rather than one.0 -

I don't think it is over the top. I don't mind standing, but standing in front of someone elses seat (ie in their allocated space), standing up on chairs, and chucking coins at home fans are all out of order. As are kickng down the pipe in the lavvies ans breaking the seat-backs. All of that took place last night and none of it is acceptable. Most of those around me spent the match goading the Palace fans for 90 mins. I'm more than happy with a bit of banter, but these clearly weren't there to watch the game.0 -
As are kicking cars and challenging palace fans to identify themselves by the station when vastly outnumbered. It made me sick and embarassed to be associated with them. I guess all clubs have these types, doesn't make it easier to digest.0

There were Charlton fans complaining to stewards (and not older or infirm ones either) that they couldn't get to their allocated seats, despite the fact those seats did not actually exist, as I politely pointed out to the lady steward who moved me out of my little spot in row 38 for some twonk who couldn't find his own spot to stand in. I wondered what these people expected at Palace away.
Anyway, it's all very well singing how much we hate SJ, but he must have made a fortune in booze/food/programme sales out of us lot last night... (I was thinking as I stood hungry on my own at half-time ;-))0 -
Hence why I didn't go and will never go to Palace while that cnut is in charge. Our resident Palace supporter here doesn't go to home games any more (with the exception of last night) cos he's so anti-everything Jordan stands for.
