Obscure question......broken leg whodunnit?

I picked up a load of old football programmes from a junk shop last week in Brighton & was reading them during yesterday's interminable 10 hour flight back to Calgary.

One was a Sheffield United prog from November 76 & it mentions angrily in several places that one of their players, John Flynn, had his left leg broken in a terrible tackle during a 3-2 loss at Charlton the previous week.

Just wondering if anyone remembers this & who was the leg breaking culprit?

Too young to remember this, but have found out who it is.

    Any guesses?

Correct. According to the excellent "Home and Away" book, John Flynn was carried off in the 72nd minute with a damaged left leg following a tackle by Hales, which was later diagnosed as broken.

I have a vague recollection of this. Wasn't at the game though.
